Sound issue?

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Sound issue?

Post by Sharpe55 »

Hey guys,

As some people from the MP community know, I was having some issues with headphones and speakers playing at the same time. That problem is finally resolved. However, ever since the last patch, my in game sounds are VERY quiet. The sound of cannon/rifle fire, marching, and marching music are barely noticeable unless i get right down to troop level and even then I can hardly hear anything.

Anyone know any solution to this?

The sound code wasn't touched with this release, so it must be something else.. Maybe your soundcard? Have you checked to make sure you have the latest drivers? Sorry but I don't have much to offer on this.. That's an unusual issue. Anyone else have any advice to bring to the table?

Just got a new laptop so the sound card shouldn't be the problem (unless it already crapped out on me :( ). It is definitely an odd issue though

OK so I've tried a full reinstall of the game and tried playing with out headphones or teamspeak on but still get no game sounds. Some other people in MP have had the same experience with getting no sounds as well. Any possible settings that could be changed (not necessarily SoW but computer settings in general) that might help would be appreciated.

PS: Every other program is working fine

Wanted to add that I have this exact same issue - since v1.4000 sounds are present but EXTREMELY quiet. I haven't messed with any of my systems sound settings or Teamsppeak options. The game sounds "muted" the way that it gets suppressed when someone is talking in Teamspeak, only its permanent. I can hear the sounds but I need to have my PC volukme and speaker volume up to 100% to hear it.

Prior to v1.4000 all was fine.

EDIT:
Do you know that you can set different volume values for different applications in Win7?

This proved to be the answer for me! It turned out that SoW:G was set right down on the slider in the Win7 sound mixer. How that happened I have no idea, it must have been some random fluke keypress I made without realising it.

Sharpe55 - suggest you investigate this.

That proved to be my fix as well! Very odd since I never touched the mixer beforehand or adjusted any setting that would effect it. Thanks for your time and effort everyone.
