Hi redcoat,

Thanks for the input. I have not installed any mods so I should be good to go. SOW is such a great platform for 19th-century combat; it may inspire me to become mod-literate so that I can at least understand what is being said in the forums. :)

Very exciting to hear this is almost done. I know it has been asked but is there any chance of multiplayer in the future? If that happens it would def make this the best mod for this game. Also are you making a new map for Teugn-Hausen? If so that would be awesome and I hope that site about the battle I provided helped somewhat. Good luck and I am very excited!

re maps,is it yet possible to make maps for the napoleonic period? i think i read elsewhere that custom maps are not yet possible but may well be in the future,is this still the case?
and haigg,my pleasure sir.if you are in doubt about anything just ask,the chaps on these forums are very friendly and will help if they can.

The only people that can create maps are the map team who are a very dedicated bunch. So there will be no Teugn-Hausen or any other nap map atm im afraid. So i am using the large Gettysberg map and finding spots that ressemble the actual ones. The scenarios are also more packed because people want action and marching for 30mins to get somewhere though realistic is not what people want. So these scenarios will be 'based on' the real events.

As for multiplayer it would be fun. There are limitations to which files must not be altered for multiplayer to work to avoid cheating and stuff. I would have to check this out.

I love the Mod,but personally I think having MP would be one of the main reasons I keep playing this game. Dont get me wrong I enjoy playing against the AI and sometimes they surprise me, but I would be awesome to play against and with human players. The command structure and courier system would take MP to a whole new level for a nappy game which very few have. I hope you really do consider it because I believe this would really give this MOD a group of dedicated players who battle as well as help bring in new people.

Anyways I am excited to see Bavarian army in battle! Any screenshots of those Wurt light infantry for the famous light brigade?

It would be fun and enjoyable as a single-player game. It would be tremendous and red-hot, jump-up-and-down-and-scream-HALLALUYA! if it were multiplayer. Wish I knew enough to help. :blush:

well, i currently know (as in i physically know them to visit!)7 people,all new to the game who are waiting for the nap mod to make its appearance. not one of these,myself included is even slightly interested in mp.i thinks its a good idea for those as want such a thing,but if it affects the sp game in any way im agin it!
the experience ive had in not a few mp games elsewhere have been universally unpleasant,likewise for my mates i mentioned above and we have no desire to repeat it.
anyway sorry! this probably counts as hijacking the thread.

on topic,re maps.
so is it possible to edit already existing maps in any way? cheers

Hi redcoat.

I fully understand what you mean about multilayer being an unpleasant experience, BUT I can personally tell you that these guys here who do play MP are very good to play with, and they will take the time you need to get up to grade, and won't bash you or your friends.

I mean if they accept me, I am very sure without a shadow of a doubt that they would accept you, and your friends into the fold.

Just something to think about while you get mushed up on the battlefield in single player. :)

I dont think mp will be possible under the guidelines. SDK says that any of these files found in the mod folder will disable the mod:

demoscreens.csv
unitglobal.csv
unitmodel.csv
defines.ini
munitions.csv
battlescript.csv

I use unitglobal and unitmodel for the new units and munitions for the artillery so it looks like it cant happen, unless things have changed.

gunship Hey, How is everything going!

Question – Have you packed the Napoleon graphics into the new file system as of now?

Also – have you noticed any benefit as far as smoother-game-play, increased fps, etc?

The reason that I’m asking is that I plan on doing the same thing with the TC2M Infantry – but I’m postponing it until I see how everything is going with your mod.
