Attention Please...The time has come to announce recent movements of the Army of the Potomac, and the Army of Northern Virginia

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Jan, 1861 We as a people North, and South are now bound by blood on every battlefield from here to heaven. Never before has a people this bold, and brave had to endure such a struggle under God...

Two groups have now been created new since the start of this war. One is the "Army of the Potomac" which is now calling to arms anyone who has battlefield experience, and who wishes to commands it's armies, and admin to their civil liberties, and rights as willing servants to this mighty army. (In other words I need a person or persons to admin the new Union group just created on X-Fire).

The Southern nation who is willing to fight courageously for their God given rights has now a NEW commander, and chief (Chris G.)who has taken on the heavy, and distinguished role to uphold, and maintain the rights of the people, and willing servants of the great "Army of Northern Virginia". (In other words Chris G has now become the admin for the "Army of Northern Virginia".

Okay the way it stands, both of these groups can only be seen by it's members (no one outside can see what is going on), and is open for new applicants, this goes for the Union as well.

The links to both of these will be posted below. Now one thing for you to know, when you do visit whichever link look to the very bottom left, and you will see in yellow a small "Join Group". Choose that to send in your application.

Also, please remember that it would be cool if you signed up as a member of the Main Scourge of War Group.

Links...

It's a good idea to have the X-Fire client software, but it's not needed if that is not your thing.

X-Fire Software: http://www.xfire.com/download/

Main Scourge of War Group: http://www.xfire.com/communities/sowgettysburg/

#1: Army of the Potomac: http://www.xfire.com/communities/aopa/
#2: Army of Northern Virginia: http://www.xfire.com/communities/aonv/

Final Update: This is for fun, so enjoy yourselves. Also the administrator's of each of these groups own these groups which means they can make any changes they wish to make. They can make them public, private, whatever they see fit they can do, I won't poke my nose into their affairs. SO have fun, and enjoy the ride.

I only made them semi private was because I was hoping to make them safe from Union, or Confederate spies which I know are lurking in the shadows out there.

This is for Single, and Muliplayers...and we will even let Norb join in. (hehehe).

The attachment xfire.png is no longer available
Xfire would work like the above picture, and we can go even further than this is we ever wanted to.

First, everyone would be a member of "Scourge of War - Main", then as it is now two bracnhes of the army are made which now only specific members are a part of.

New members can than start creating their own groups from the main army such as there own divisions, and corps, and so on meaning that the entire Xfire can give you the actual ability to become one massive army with each brigade as a branch form it's parent.

So the messaging would behave this way, since everyone is part of the Scourge of War Main, all messages like the news is broadcast globally, letting everyone know what is going on etc.

Then each person who is member of the Confederacy, and of the union will only see messages posted for they army they are part of. The messages work only downward, never upward, so if the confederates post news, only teh confederates, and below are notified, not the Main Scourge of war, nor the Union army.

Say I created a group called Michael's brigade (union army, all the way at the bottom of the chain), all messages, and forum posts I make in my group stay within my group, and those who command any regiment or part of my group will only see those will immediately receive the news. NO upper part of the chain will receive those messages.

In the end we can have literally thousand of players all owning a full copy of SOW, and one hugh massive network of troops all tied in to be called upon.

Everyone can create their own group off of a main group, so on, and so on.

Now the best part... Since we are all part of the main scourge of war, all the activity that is preformed such as game time spent playing the game is recorded, all screenshots, all videos, broadcasted or recorded raises Scourge of War up in the X-fire rankings...It's endless....then more exposure for the game, we are all having fun, and Norb gets rich, and brings out his next gen...

In the end, people can have Brigades vs Brigades battles, enter AAR's in their parent army news, and have them broadcasted throughout their side of the army for everyone to read (Notices are immediately sent to everyone in the army).

for these really cool features the X-Fire client has to be installed.

Right you are Mike, as I have tested all the offered x-fire features and they work. You can record videos in game and post them to the Main SoW page, or the pages of your Army, Division, Brigade, etc. Same goes for the screenshot function. Also, I have tested the live streaming broadcast function, and it too worked without a hitch, which means that anyone on x-fire can click on the link to the stream and watch the battles they're not involved in, as long as someone is broadcasting. There is also an embed function which would allow players to post the stream on another website if they want to. X-fire also allows for in game voice and text chat and you can also link a seperate chatroom to the video stream, so that folks outside the game could ask questions if they want (as in, "hey, i saw the link to this video stream at site...blah, blah, blah (dot) com...this looks great, what game is this?")to which someone could respond "oh, this little gem is SoW : Gettysburg by NorbSoftDev, here's the link, go buy a thousand copies and we'll see you back here on the field. ;)

Right on there Chris, you have nailed it, there is just so much that can be done with X-Fire.

X-Fire is not meant to take the place of Teamspeak, it's all about mixing, and matching to your gameplay style. What X-Fire does is allows you to expand your gaming experience so that you no longer feel isolated, and I know a few do feel like that. You won't feel that way when using X-Fire, and becoming part of the Scourge of War X-Fire style.

GCM is part of this great experience. Garnier has created one heck of a great campaign manager, and I can tell you join up there because GCM just makes the experience of commanding an Army even more exciting, and it's a very rewarding experience.

Link: GCM Multiplayer

X-Fire is not just for the MP player, it's for that single player who has the game, or just downloaded the demo, and simply loves the game, but sometimes money is short so you feel left out because not everyone is Bill Gates. We need you good people as well to join the ranks, if you create your own group, cool all the better because when you do finally decide on purchasing the game believe me you will have already established yourself as a group, and as a player. It's people like yourself that makes, or breaks a game, and there are many here who will help you if, and when you need the help.

Scourge of War - Gettysburg is hands down one of the best games to own, the price is very reasonable, and the community is genuine.

Chris G, thanks for taking on the tasks of the Confederate Army!

There is always a Final note with me: When you do create a group, only the group in itself is responsible for itself, meaning that no group above you, or below you has any claim, or responsiblility, you are in charge....SO have fun.

So are the AOP and ANV positions equivalent to their real-life namesakes? That is, those players are the commanding officers of the Union and Confederate sides in a long-term Gettysburg campaign in MP or SP or both? Or neither? I ask because GCM has a campaign component to it - duh, I know! - and it gives some context and longer-term meaning to the battles. Will that be something happening there on xfire? Lord knows there are enough decent maps available to make a campaign level to just about anything we can do with SOW; add hexes, track formations' movements, ascertain supply status, etc in whatever detail we can stand ;) Not criticizing, just asking so I can know what to expect there if I join up. Great to see lots of activity in SOW. :woohoo:

And great video there!!

As far as namesakes are concerned, it is up to the individual who registers with X-Fire. So if I wanted create another account with x-fire I could name myself whatever I use for GCM.
