I was wondering (I do this sorry!) with the new engine is there a way to keeping the cavalry on foot once they have dismounted rather than them keep remounting and dismounting constantly during a battle.
Just a thought

Re: Cavalry AI dismounting/remounting
This probably cant happen now, And I dont realy mess with the unit files too much, but in the old game if you changed the unitcommon segment for a mounted unit and altered the dismounted file from dismounted to an infantry file the command would be mounted at the start of the game but if you dismounted them they would appear as infantry and unfortunately could not be remounted. With this game I dont know but you know the drill Zeke, its best to figure it out on your own by trial and error.I was wondering (I do this sorry!) with the new engine is there a way to keeping the cavalry on foot once they have dismounted rather than them keep remounting and dismounting constantly during a battle.

You can set up a scenario with permanently dismounted cavalry, this was done for some of the ECF fights. There is no way to lock a unit in mounted or dismounted state from within a battle.

You know what I missed the fact that ECF fights featured dismounted troops....doh!! :pinch:
It's great that this feature is added already..... it took me ages to figure out how to have dismounted troops in the old game . Its good to know what we have available - going forward I want to do some OOBs based on some cavalry only engagements - Brandy Station (actually there were 3000 infantry deployed for this battle as well) Aldie, Middleburg and later battles like Trevilian Station - also want to look at some of the raids by Morgan and everyone's favorite Bedford Forrest
