Coping game folder

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

In response to Norb's post #8 and 10

You can launch and play SOW from an external hard drive. You can also use also use a USB flash drive. To play SOW from your external HD:

1. first install SOW Gettysburg (and Antietam if you have it) onto your main frame. If you have already installed it, deactivate it.
2. Copy and paste the Game folder (C:NorbSoftDev) to your eternal HD.
3. Launch the game using the SOWGW (application) from that folder. If you want to create a DT shortcut, make a new one using the SOWGW from that folder. If you are using Windows 7, before you launch the game: right click on SOWGW. Go to Properties/Compatibility and check "Run this program as an administrator".
4. Run the game, and now activate it from your external HD.

Load as many mods and add-on's as you want without increasing your main frame's hard drive usage - that is, beyond your initial install of the initial SOW Gettysburg game. A note - you cannot install a game directly onto an external HD. The game must first be installed onto your main frame HD for it to work from an external source. If you want to go back to playing the game on your main frame install, deactivate the game from your external HD, and activate from your PC. Always create a new short cut from wherever the game is being activated from.

Another huge benefit of using an external HD to play your game from is, if you want to play your game from another PC. You do not have to deactivate your game, and you will save a huge amount of space on the other PC.

This is what you do:
1. Do NOT deactivate the game.
2. Follow safe procedures to remove your external HD (or Flash Drive).
3. Plug your external HD into any PC that has the basic SOW Gettysburg already installed on. Any mod, add-on or games (Antietam) that you have already installed on your external HD, does not have to be installed on the PC.
4. Launch the game from you external HD - your game will already be activated.
5. To go back to your main PC, do NOT deactivate the game. Simply plug your External HD back into your main PC.

I hope I explain this clearly,

Ernie
