MP Courier Crashing

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Thanks, I'll get the logs to Norb.. If only we were getting these crashes too.. We have been unable to re-produce the problem, and we've tested thoroughly.

Question - Is it always the same player hosting when it crashes?

Blaugrana, myself and another were playing with CoB4thTexas yesterday. Just to confirm we had all disabled our mods and had all installed the beta patch beforehand.

In answer to your question LP, this was the first time CoB4thTexas had hosted, but not the first time we have experienced the problem.

I should also mention that it was only a division-level game and that CoB4thTexas (among his many fine qualities) has a super-fast broadband connection.

This was the very first time i hosted :pinch: , so i would guess its not the same person hosting.

One other thing i would add is that i was using Hamachi V. Lan to host, if thats means somthing.

P.S. Really liked those typed writen orders, i havent type so fast.......EVER! :woohoo:

Monty, others, is the host using Hamachi during your games?

Martin,

There's a flag in sowgb/work/sowgb.ini

[Debug]
MPLog=1

This will create a sowmp_log_date.log in the same work folder. If you play and can recreate a crash, then have everyone playing use this flag. Then after you crash, have everyone zip up their mp logs and sowgb.log just to be safe and email them to sowsupport at scourgeofwar dot com. I have received a few that I'm looking through right now and they don't always show the problem. But there has been some success.

One idea to try is to figure out if it's a certain computer/connection that is causing the issue. If you have multiple people, try to see if it's one particular player that is having the problems. Since we haven't had any issues ourselves and many people are playing very solid games, it could be someone's install that's the problem.

Thanks Norb. It's good to know that there has been some success from looking at the logs. I'll set up the MP log flag on my machine now.

Obviously, on the forum, we only hear from people having problems, so we don't hear about the successes, but are any people consistently playing MP games, lasting over an hour, with couriers??

Thanks again for your work on solving this. There seem to be a lot of people wanting to play MP using couriers & HITS.

Thanks Norb. I'll do that and let the rest of our group know too.

That's a good question, Blaugrana.
