Purchase Page.

Post by MarkT »

I rarely post anymore choosing to stay out of the way of you guys, but I really have found something on your purchase page that is VERY misleading. Just because I am in excommunication does not mean I do not support the game any more.

I spend a lot of my energy in my miniature circles both in Europe and domestic bringing players into this game. I just found out, a person ordered what he thought was the CD of all of the Game and MODs Antietam and Pipe Creek for $59.99.... Or at least that is what your add kind of says.
I do hope you realze that there are a lot of people out there that are not very good on computers. He is NOT good at getting on forums and such. As far as I am concerned, when I saw the page, I thought the same thing. You look at the add and add the price up and you get all three. He doesn't know about your downloads and such. He was just trying to get something that looked like it would be a lot of fun and join his friends playing..... He added the numbers up and bought your product.

Well he has been informed that he only purchased the Gettysburg CD.....for $59.99... Well I get my %, and I am Damn embarrased to talk to him again. I just look like a thief.
He already has told me the he will not deal with you again..... That is a shame, and very close to being false advertizing.... Remember, keep sight of the people you are trying to attract. Now, instead of telling newbies to go check it out, he just warns them...........

Hi Mark. I honestly do not know how clearer we can make the purchase page. Each product is separated and they each have their own description. You click on one of the download links, and again, each product is separated. The CD box with manual is near the bottom and has a separate link. The CD link even lists everything that it includes (and the extra packs aren't listed). No where does it say that the CD includes the game, plus the battle packs.

I am sorry that he got confused, but I simply do not know how it can be explained any clearer.

Although I understood it, maybe just from hanging around here and being here from the start when all the options didn't exist. But looking at the page now and maybe from a newbie perspective, I could see how someone might have been confused. For the box version, all it says "CD BOX WITH MANUAL - $59.99 USD" and that comes after all the individual options at the top. What the CD option doesn't specifically say is what is contained on the CD. Plus the fact all the individual download prices happen to add up to roughly $60, likely doesn't help. One might assume everything was on the CD. Maybe one way to completely clarify is to change the "CD BOX WITH MANUAL - $59.99 USD" to something like "SCOURGE OF WAR: GETTYSBURG CD BOX WITH MANUAL - $59.99 USD" to match how you describe the download version. Or list specifically under the CD option what comes on it (current list of bullet points under the CD option doesn't specifically say Gettysburg, which was probably OK before all the new DLC came out).

Again, not a big deal for me, just an observation.

Thanks Grim.Reaper. That sounds like a simple edit, we can make sure and put that it does not include the other packs in the CD version.

Again, I'm sorry that he got confused, but we have never had a single report of this happening to someone in the near 2 years the game has been out.

Of course we want to be as clear as we can with info on the site, so I will look into getting the description updated for the CD version. Thanks to both of you for bringing it to our attention.

No problem LP and again personally I wasn't confused by it, but thinking that is largely because of my knowledge of the game from the start when there wasn't even a CD:) Either way, I think adding some of that text should help clarify it for the future as you add a tons more new battles for us:)

Just a suggestion *only*.
The attachment requirements.jpg is no longer available
The attachment requirements2.jpg is no longer available
I can understand what you guys mean, it does make one think that all is included in this pack because it does say "Bonus Additional Content" which might make one think that the addon packs are included, and it is listed last.

Also one more thing I think it may be a good thing to mention/list that internet is required to activate the game as well. If I purchased this game without first knowing I required an internet connection to register the game, I would have been peeved...

Update: I have read the ad over, and over again, and I personally would not have made that mistake. I see nothing misleading in NSD's advert.

Anyway...

I too have knowledge.....
But we can't all assume everyone does.

Matt, you work in the business where some people don't know computers and they are confused by everything. This is the case. AND IT IS NOT ISOLATED.

And Antietam and Pipe creek were not there for two years.

It is possible that someone will order thinking they get all three and would not know the difference until much later. Think of the newbies......

For us it is easy to understand... we live by this...
He thought he was getting everything... He paid $67.00 for Gettysburg and .... the "manual"
I wouldn't pay that EVER!

And I have two copies of everything.

As far as I am concerned, He got screwed! You can't hold the hand of everyone that buys the game, but you have to think when you add info to the adds.

I think that I would take it one step farther and place a quote under the CD Version and Manual.

“CD Version and Manual – Does not include the Pipe Creek or Antietam Map Packs!” the map packs are sold separately.

No confusion there, and YES if I had not known, I would have thought the same thing, everything was included with the CD Version.

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

Thanks Davinci. We'll still get the description updated, just to make sure it's 150% clear. :)

An internet connection is not required to activate the game. Players can use manual activation if they don't have an internet connection.

You still require the internet though Sir to get the activation code.

From the way it says it in the ad is like the way it use to be, buy the game, enter your serial key, and play which really isn't the case.

We all know the old system of things, install the game, enter your serial key, and play the game without the need to ever get on the internet, without ever getting a activation code via email. We all have those games, and the above ad makes me think that it is that way, and yup I would have been peeved about it, but because I visited this site almost from the beginning of the games release I knew about it being a internet required activation so I didn't go in blind, but I am very sure that there are a few that would read that, and not know that an internet connection is required to activate the game either it be a direct connect to the activation server, or via email.

Maybe things have changed where manual activation is concerned, I have only used it once (I think, not too sure).

Okay I'll do a test, I'll deactivate my game, and use the manual activation, and see if I need the internet or not...be right back.

I'm not complaining (I love this game) Little Powell, please don't take it that way...
