Nails? You have nails left? I got down to the first knuckles about my third or fourth courier battle in.

Seems to me very few brigade commanders sent couriers to their regiments telling them to wheel one way or the other or to change formations and such.
Wheeling still happens 'by magic' even when using Couriers at Brigade ;) Apart from this, I like the fact that I can either rely on the regiment's commander (in this case the AI) or send them an order. Unless they're within shouting distance that involves someone going and telling them.
I am amazed by how much the game changes when playing Courier and Hits, in lots of ways. The last 3 hours + of play I've been involved in have resulted in 0 casualties in one game (we never found the enemy) and a tiny number of casualties in the other (though this one froze after 90-odd minutes just as the fighting was about to start). Despite this, they've been fascinating and tense.

Tank,

Yes, brother, I still have a bit o' nails left. It's also why I tend to only play as a Division Commander, allbeit with really big Divisions like Ed Johnson's 2nd. Day Division - 5 Brigades, a slew of Batteries. Works. Anything more is just too much. Also, the way I play forces me to always be on the front lines and moving, WITH the ever-present possibility of being shot.

Couriers and HITS are what makes the game for me and gives it the edge over the competition.

Pretty sure I would not have made the purchase without them!
If you want to try it in MP, drop me a PM, I'll give you a link to our TS server and you can try a game with us and see some real confusion and chaos made worse by five or six other officers being as in the dark as yours.

It would be helpful if the inbox was highlighted when you have an unread message. Even if you have ticked the option to open new messages autoimatically, the game will not do this if you are using the courier message window or the OOB function when the courier arrives. I'm sure that's for the best, but unless you check regularly you can easily miss a message.

I think it's reasonable to have some kind of prompt in this case, as one of your staff would have alerted you if a message arrived while you were temporarilly otherwise engaged.

I am very flexible playing the game and in the same battle, if it is long, I can play with couriers, giving orders directly, using the map...first person or 50 yds over head. It will depend.

As it is a 3D game the constantly use of interface and cameras make me playing on that way.

So if you re in the mood the game lets you play a "non official" "autocensure type of playing" pseudoHITS mode :)

Of course I am reffering to single player.

For now, I should not be able to conduct decently something more than a brigade in a serious way if the multi is HITS. maybe in a near future.

Greetings!

what is HITS ??? Thanks in advance ...
This is Abner Monroe Perrin born Edgefield County, South Carolina born Feb 8th 1827 fought in Gettysburg and other engagements.

"Maj. Gen. Edward "Allegheny" Johnson's division was captured on May 12, 1864, units from the Third Corps—including Perrin's brigade—were called in to help. Leading his troops in a spirited counterattack through a very heavy fire, with his sword in hand, Perrin fell from his horse pierced by seven bullets. He died instantly.

Perrin is buried in the Confederate Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Virginia." source wiki

Headquarters In The Saddle

Basically you play with the camera locked to your character, and give orders only by courier in most cases. Its the most realistic form of play.
