Sandbox Optional Way to Fight Just Awesome

Post by drypowder »

Ok so Go into Sandbox Pick Division vs Division and also make sure Balance Forces is checked. Ok then CLICK on a Brigade only 1 brigade is highlighted. maybe you all know all this but anyway when it starts .. The ONLY thing you can do is control your brigade so you can micromanage it and watch everything it does and that happens to it .. I like to take off ai control and move them around to all sorts of contortions and flanks against the enemy. In the mean time the other units your friendlies that you can't control their is only a courier option thing they move around and perform whatever the scenario is defend or attack an objective.

I did this crossed a street just in time with my bridgae in column formation to get onto another road to flank around what I thought was their main body comind down the road as I went up the other road I ran into 2 Brigades !!! with my 1 Brigade. ....

Hats off to the Development dudes This game is a 10 !!!
This is Abner Monroe Perrin born Edgefield County, South Carolina born Feb 8th 1827 fought in Gettysburg and other engagements.

"Maj. Gen. Edward "Allegheny" Johnson's division was captured on May 12, 1864, units from the Third Corps—including Perrin's brigade—were called in to help. Leading his troops in a spirited counterattack through a very heavy fire, with his sword in hand, Perrin fell from his horse pierced by seven bullets. He died instantly.

Perrin is buried in the Confederate Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Virginia." source wiki

Your superior AI commander will also give you orders on where to move, although it has looked quite confused as to what it's attempting to do in some of the sandbox battles, when I've tried to follow it's orders in the past.

Make sure you put at least one Victory location in - that should lessen the AI's wandering some, I'd hope.

Check out the GCM single player campaign, Drypowder. They're better games than sandbox and you get your own division to carryover battle to battle.

This is one of my favourite ways to play - although occasionally you get ordered to be the strategic reserve, which leads to a boring hour or so. I usually just restart :)

IIRC you can take part in the full Antietam scenario as a brigade commander, or a battery commander. It's brilliant.

Same here.
When I see my Division not moving with the rest of the corps I use to restart.

If you are not in the mood of commanding great forces Brigade commander is a very fun role to play on great battles. Missions and orders and objetives.

Perhaps Artillery commander is the definition of boredom. But anyway I have never tried it deeply.

If they send me into strategic reserve I just do a George S. Patton and Recon in Force ... Uh joint the fight ... yeah lots of times they send me to a position where there is nothing but crickets chirping ...
