Ok. I will try to explain step by step what I am doing.
First, I made a changes in the OOB Gettysburg_day_2 file. I changed the name by adding an "a" on the end. Then I placed the modified OOB in the Bonus Scenarios folder. I changed the scenario from the day_2 to day_2a master OOB.
When I run the program the sowgb loads fine. Then it can't find the contents of the scenario file (from the log). What am I doing wrong?
Your help is much appreciated.
I have a suggestion for marketing your game. There are groups that use the inferior Civilization program to mod battles that occurred in South America. I am doing one of the First Battle of Tutuyi (largest single battle in South America.) The end result was so poor, I just gave up. Maybe you can investigate which battles or most used in Civilization and then make versions of these to market in other countries. The Battle of Tutuyi is very interesting as the smaller Paraguayan Army came so close to destroying the larger Brazilian, Argentinian, and Uruguayan forces. The group for Tutuyi was almost all in English (although I do speak Spanish.)
You guys have helped me enjoy your games over the years that I wish there something I could do for you.

Re: Change name of divisional commander
B,
I think I can help, (I change stuff all the time), but I need some more information -
Are you changing an OOB in an existing,(Bonus), scenario, an existing, stock scenario, or just an OOB for Sandbox? I need to know this before I can answer.
Jack B)
Note - I know you have posted a lot off info previously, but I'm feeling something is missing from before. Let's start again.

Re: Change name of divisional commander
I am using the Anderson in Echelon Bonus scenario. I am trying to change the armaments and change some of the names of the commanders of the brigade. I can easily change the number of troops and also how to add in Mahone's Brigade.
What I think I should be doing is changing the master oob to one where I have changed the particulars listed above.
In TC2M I just changed the stock variant "units" and I could change every thing I wanted. No such luck in Sow-Gettysburg.

Not , that I know anything about how the scenarios work, I have never played them.
But, if you are changing the files within the scenario , and you are changing the scenario.csv file, shouldn’t you also be changing the battlescript.csv file to match those changes?
To put this another way – if you are only changing the number of troops, I don’t think that the battlescript file would have to be edited.
But, if you are removing \ adding additional troops \ commanders – these files will not match – and the scenario will probably crash!

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

Correct, not probably...WILL, but you can change the names, just not the ID Names. But, if you are removing \ adding additional troops \ commanders – these files will not match – and the scenario will probably crash!

Prob here is you're designing like TC2M...Wrong!
Gotta always follow the mod structure, in this case you don't have an OOBs folder...add one and include your custom OOB there. Then you must change your custom scenario to call that OOB...scenario.csv file, top line calls the specific OOB. So, in your mod you have two folders, OOBs and Scenarios. It's much easier to manage than TC2M once you get the hang of it...good luck.

Re: Change name of divisional commander
Ok, here's what I tried.
1) I renamed the Anderson in echelon scenario by adding an "a"
2) Used the name of the master in the original AiE to find the master OOB for the scenario
3) I added an "a" as per above.
4) I placed the name of the new master in the scenario folder.
5) Next, I made a new folder and added both files, plus the remaining files in the original scenario.
6) Placed the new folder in the Bonus Scenarios file.
Crashed because it couldn't find the "directory" Gave error message that it couldn't find any units or commanders.
Thanks for any help that might be provided.

Sometimes it's just easier to show than tell. Try this attachment, download and unzip into your Mods folder. You can combine this into the Bonus Scenarios Mod easily, or, just keep it separate. Please study the layout, this a basic mod structure for SOW.

Re: Change name of divisional commander
Reb is right.. With modding it is always best to start with an already made mod.. Study the structure, compare to your own. Basically start out with Rebs mod, make small changes, and eventually it becomes your own. Every scenario or mod I have ever designed always started with editing an existing one.
