Here you can talk about whatever floats your boat. Your favorite movie, sports team, etc. If it's a little racey, I suggest you post in R&R, otherwise we'll move it for you.

Prometheus - Spoiler Warning!

Post by norb »

Saw the movie, the sci-fi horror that I've been waiting for, and it was good, but disappointing. There was never any suspense for me. I did like it, but something was missing. They were trying to cover too much I think. They were explaining the beginning of life on Earth and of the alien species. They should have just stuck to one subject. I also was very curious as to how the pilot figured everything out towards the end, that they were there to build weapons of mass destruction. How the heck did he know, he didn't even leave the ship!

That said there were a ton of great parts to the movie. I was never bored, it was a good ride. I don't like the cliffhanger at the end, not a fan of that in movies. Great acting all around, not enough time spent getting to know the little people in the crew (I loved the two mechanics in Alien). Seemed they were just there to be killed.

I think they could have done more it they stuck to one major subject rather than trying to explain the beginning of life as well. The scene in the surgical machine is an instant classic unbelievable scene! I was cringing the entire time. Just remarkable.

It was cool to see the very first generation of the Alien.

It seems a little like someone was inspired by Stanley Kubrick.
HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.

You're right. In the very beginning I felt I was watching 2000 space odyssey.

I heard someone saying this is the "prequel" to Aliens, I didn't see anything Alien-like in the movie .

Yup, there are two prequels, this one, and of course the one that is either being filmed now, or soon to be.

A good movie doesn't require an explanation.

This is what I figured. At the end of the movie you see an alien like creature born. There are also lots of spaceships still buried. So this alien starts laying eggs on a spaceship and gets an engineer awake and implants him. He flies the spaceship off and the chest burster kills him. Then it crashes on the planet where the alien crew finds it.

OR

Since the eggs are so nicely lined up in Alien. One of the spaceships already contains the eggs, placed there by an engineer as weapons. Then the same, one takes off and he's infected and it crashes where Alien movie finds it.

Just an opinion on how to tie them together. Since we know it's not the same planet.

"prequel" to Aliens
It's a prequel to Alien, not Aliens. Big difference, as it attempts to portray what the Space Jockey was all about - no Jockeys in Aliens.

Good point. A great continuing of the series would be to figure out how we defend ourselves against them.
