The official announcement of the next battle has intersected with the business deal that I mentioned above. There is no change of ownership or creative control, only a deal related to sales and marketing. The full details will be officially announced in the near future. Our future partner is a well respected company among wargamers and we all expect benefits to both sides from this relationship.

The new deal will delay release of the new battle a bit as we have to make some additional changes to the game engine that will be included in the 1.5 patch. These changes will allow us to take advantage of some assets that our new partner has for use by their other products.

The fact that this is all going down in the height of the vacation season is not speeding things along either. We understand that people just want the next battle out later today, but like Jackson's flanking maneuvers in the Valley and elsewhere ;), very effective moves can take time to set up.

I think is more probable Matrix, Paradox is well know for strategy games but not for wargames (Ageod divorced from Paradox exactly because of different views on this, there is some but they are exceptions), and as I far I know there is not common assets in their games, and Scourge is already in sales on Gamersgate which is the Paradox sales portal, it is strange they feel interest to game after more than 1 year they have it in sales.

Matrix at contrary I know it is always in search of little wargame studios for new products, sometimes also no professional or mid-time (see Graviteam recently). I have had mode to exchange email with their marketing director who is italian (matrix has offices in England and Italy) and Iain McNeil for Unicorn Studio (that one of Real Warfare 2) and they explain me their policy. And they had introduced recently a new PBEM++ more similar to classical realtime lobby for their new games (the PBEM++ is a system which permit to host PBEM files on a central server).

If it is Matrix I think it is a very good shot, because it is a very good publisher with a great customer service.

Hope it isn't Matrix. Then the price would probably be triple what it should be.... like most of their games.

And Chancellorsville? Really?? There were battles in the war besides areas within 100 miles of Washington DC. In fact, the war was won (or lost, if you are for the CSA) in the West.

The price is done on the basis of development cost and expected sales (and agreement with the developer), being already a developed game the price should be the same of now; see Achtung Panzer of Graviteam, the price is the done at the game issue on gamersgate. YOu cannot compare the price seeing monster game like WITE,WITP, etc...: they requested years of development for few thousands of purchasers in years.

Exactly. I am a happy Matrix customer. Battle of Britain II was very affordable, War in the Pacific and War in the Pacific Admirals Edition as well as War in the East are all very expensive but in my mind WELL worth the cost as the level of detail and style of game you will likely never see again and in my opinion deserve their cost. I gladly paid them.

Also look at Panzer Corps which is a newer title and a remake of Panzer Generals and was very affordable and the stand alone expansion I think is only $19.99? or $29.99... Either way well in the affordability range. Heck the map packs for Panzer Corps were only $4.99...

Also if they release a bundle of Gettysburg, Antietam, Pipe Creek and this new one don't you think all those bundled together would be worth the $59.99 or $69.99 that would likely be charged by matrix? I do. Look at it this way, if you added up the retail price of all the games right now and charge $19.99 for the new expansion like they did with Antietam you get $79.99 which is well within Matrix's usual pricing range for high end massive games with a DL option.

The only thing I would have a concern over is there are several prominent forum members over there opposed to NSD. I tried convincing a few of them to buy this game awhile back and they were very vocal against it due to the whole Mad Minute situation. Hope if it is Matrix there are not some jerks matrix users who ruin the potential a deal like this might yield.

You know that whole deal of what went on is between Mister Timpko, and the other party only, it is none of their business. Those old fogies are acting like crotchety old women who have nothing better to do than poke their noses into other people's business.

If they decide to buy or not to buy is their business...their loss. While we play the game, and have a great time playing, they are still sitting back in the old gamers corner collecting dust, and cobwebs
Hope if it is Matrix there are not some jerks matrix users who ruin the potential a deal like this might yield.
Time will tell.
