Bugles & Flags XIX

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

RB, there seems to be a bug with 0.9, least I think it is: both the infantry column and line formation buttons are actually two buttons each. The left half of column is indeed column, but the right half is inf_square, and the left half of line is line, but the right is line hold formation.

I noticed this when a regiment decided to switch to line when I wanted them moving in column, and I kept clicking on the button but they weren't going to column but a chaotic kind of square.

Yeah, I'll get rid of that infantry square with the next revision...it's a totally useless formation. By accident it was left in, just forgot to remove it after testing.

The split buttons for line and line hold are by design, they will remain. If I can find new ways of presenting them without cluttering up the toolbar, I'll redesign.

Thanks for the input...

Ok, understand. IMO having a single button do two things and you can only tell which by looking at the hover is confusing, I'd really recommend breaking them into full buttons despite the additional interface elements. And in general we all have a ton more screen real estate than this interface uses, I suggest making all the buttons bigger. I'm thinking about porting that interface I did for TC2M to this (Chonaman is finally getting that working for TC2M), if I do I think I'm going to increase the size of the buttons on that too.

Forgot to say I'm glad I grabbed this mod again, when I played SoW last year I had it and it's a huge improvement over the out of the box game. I can imagine how much work it was, so thanks :)

I'm about to release version 10 and any feedback for improvements should be made now, not sure when the next upgrade will happen, but it will be far off as the SOW expansions take more and more of my time.

I planned on making this version 10 a biggie, introducing a brand new set of Union flags. However, I used up this feature with the coming expansion. I've got the portraits set for patch 1.5, including the next expansion, fixed various odds and ends that folks have mentioned over the last several months, muted the bugle sounds some, and, that's about it.

So, let me know now if you have requests, version 10 is coming this week or so, and it may be a year or so before I mess with another upgrade.

Thanks for being a great audience of Bugles and Flags. I've certainly got a lot of loyal fans out there...makes me proud and happy that I can provide stuff that I like, and you guys like too. :)

Always impressive B) We played a great game with your flags mod last weekend and I'm working on a scenario using your flags as well for the near future. They add so much versatility and flavor for scenarios it really makes them feel realistic.

Delete Graphics\Screens\Map_Icons.tga

Please learn to edit mods, that's why we put them out there, to study and learn, besides entertainment. When you ask us to change them for your preferences, it decreases our (modders and designers) desire to continue on, turning out FREE stuff.

In the future, please look for the answer first, if you explain that you tried and failed, you won't get a negative reply or lecture like this, we'll gladly help out. This was an easy fix on your end, but time gone for me to explain, and lecture.

Got a request to add 'Read Dispatches' to the toolbar, you will find it on the back half of the 'Read Sent Messages' (now split) button. If you desire this added function download the following attachment and copy this gui.csv file within the Logistics folder...overwrite previous gui. Note, it is not zipped.

The attachment gui.csv is no longer available
The next revision of B&F will include this addition.
