The Antietam Sesquicentennial
The Antietam Sesquicentennial
I had the great good fortune to spend this past weekend at the sesquicentennial of the Great Battle in Sharpsburg. An amazing experience! I had some initial concerns about fighting the crowds but the positives far outweighed any problems with people stepping into photos, traffic, etc. (although it did take 40 minutes to make it from one end of tiny Sharpsburg to the other on the 16th).
The photos in the link below provide some flavor and color for the 150th commemorative event, but I ultimately took dozens, even hundreds more of those landmarks on the Antietam and South Mountain battlefields we've become all-too-familiar with from our hours with the game! This was my first trip to Antietam and South Mountain, but playing SoW made it seem like an old and familiar place...
