Re: Scourge of War 1.5 Patch / Activation Errors
Well, I just tried to download 1.5 Revised and received an activation code required message. Am I the only one with a problem?
Thanks

Yes you need your old activation codes for the game when you originally installed it and the activation codes for the Pipe Creek and Antietam expansions.
The new revised patch now allows you to pick the destination of your installed game.

That is not what Norb said in the first post that ADukes noted. Says that no activation codes are needed. What am I not understanding? (It does ask for Serial Number - Is that the same?)Yes you need your old activation codes for the game when you originally installed it and the activation codes for the Pipe Creek and Antietam expansions.

I think, Jack, that Norb meant that DRM would be different under Matrix. ie, once you've got your updated game 'registered' / 'activated' with Matrix, the activation, deactivation that some people hate would be a thing of the past.
However, all the various threads and posts do emphasise that you need all your codes to update to 1.5.

Correct, activation of the game can now be done without an active internet connection to the computer. And you can install it on your laptop without first deactivating it on your home computer.
You will need the codes to update, but after the initial Matrix install, they should be entered for you in future updates.

Re: Scourge of War 1.5 Patch / Activation Errors
Once I downloaded the patch; I got my activation codes together for SOW, Antietam, and Pipe Creek. Then I deactivated the game. Ran the patch and inserted the activation codes as the patch requested. The game was up and running as soon as the patch installed. GTGI'm not going anywhere near this patch until I completely understand what I should do.
I'm not touching the registry - did that once a few years ago and it bit me.
I have Antietam and Pipe Creek add-ons. Can someone please give a clear accurate step-by-step solution preferably without the role-playing?
Thanks.

My Registry Editor does not have my serial number. I sent an email to Norbsoft yesterday, but have not heard back. I buy so many games and have a massive spreadsheet of all my serial codes but this one I am missing of course.

It should look like this in your registry.My Registry Editor does not have my serial number. I sent an email to Norbsoft yesterday, but have not heard back. I buy so many games and have a massive spreadsheet of all my serial codes but this one I am missing of course.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NorbSoftDev]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NorbSoftDev\SOWGB]
"RegCode"="1234567891011" <----- This is your Serial #
"InstallDir"="E:\\NorbSoftDev\\Scourge of War - Gettysburg"

Re: Scourge of War 1.5 Patch / Activation Errors
I messed something up.
I deactivated my game pre-patch. I then shifted all my files to the C drive because they were not there originally. Next I installed the patch. The game is working now as v.1.5 but it's as if I just bought it. There are no saved games, mods, Antietam or Pipe Creek scenarios, etc.

Re: Scourge of War 1.5 Patch / Activation Errors
I am really rather glad that I did not have my Antietam and Pipe Creek codes to hand and have not yet tried to install Patch 1.5 . I shall wait a bit I think. Probably do it when the next extension comes along.
The vast number of overlapping threads that have been spawned on this topic make it very difficult to follow logically all of the problems, suggestions, reports caveats etc. Can some kind soul not consolidate them just a bit into a master thread.
I have a question regarding the directory in which SOWGB is stored. It is reported that problems arise when the program is 'not stored in the recommended default location'. It has always been my practice to store all of my program files on a D: drive to prevent their being massacred should a WINDOWS crash require the C: drive to be formatted and WINDOWS to be reloaded there.
I cannot quite work out whether this warning re drives refers to the location you tell the computer to use when installing MATRIX ..... or to the location where SOWGB lived before installing the patch.
Simply ..... should I move SOWGB to the C: drive with the default path before deactivating and running the patch.
