Scourge of War 1.5 Patch / Activation Errors

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

cliometrician - I was under the impression that due to all of the problems that the forum members were having that Matrix came out with another Revised Patch to solve those problems.

Is that the same Patch that MTG posted right above your last post?

I was one of the lucky ones, I just Installed the patch over my existing game, and everything seemed to work the first time. So, I'm not exactly sure how to solve the problems that some are having!

Thanks Da Vinci,

Strange Never ever seen SOWGB in my Add/Delete.

What actually compiles that record or tags programs to appear in it. Is it Windows Installer ? Anybody Know ?

That MATRIX is really the limit.

I have been trying and failing this afternoon to load down the basic game from them on a slow expensive satellite link with a very small daily data loaddown limit. Three times after about an hour the loaddown failed "unable to read data at source'

I never had this nonsense with Norb Software.

Wish I could help, hope our tech guys can straighten you out soon. You'll need that patch for Chancellorsville, our best release yet...coming very soon.

Too bad you're only "of Satellite". What about Hughes Net's new satellite? Can't you tap into that? Although I loath them for ripping me off to the tune of $300 by saying their system was better than DSL (I invested and then had no recourse but to cancel), they at least are probably an acceptable bad product for African outposts, where you choices are obviously very limited.

Hang in there and avoid being an entree' :woohoo:

I would say that you are entitled to receive a free Box-Version of the game, didn't you buy the game again, and you are still having problems with the patch?

Thanks for the reply posts

I finally managed to download the new game overnight after several trys. Now expecting some rude e-mails from my service provider on exceeding my very meagre download limit.

I bought the new game. When you have four patches on your inner tube, I guess it's better to get a new tube.

The game is now working fine and the problems I encountered with Patch 1.5 are a memory. Will download Antietam and Pipe Creek later in the week. This version does have a good uninstall and also appears on Windows Control Panel "Add and remove programs"

I have re-accessed most of the mods from Mike's site to ensure I have the latest available and and just checking now to find out which of them version 1.5 is prepared to tolerate.

Some advice from somebody please. I have a lapse of memory. It is a long time since I downloaded and installed any OOB's and I can't for the life of me remember where to put them. I have a vague recollection that it was in work/sandbox somewhere.

Thanks

Like Paul on the Road to Damascus, I suddenly remembered in a flash of blinding light, how I must deal with OOB's. My earlier request for help can be ignored. Thanks.

This thread has been a great help.
The new Matrix revised 1.5 update is available which allows you the option to install the update to a location of your choice. I needed this as the game is not installed on my 'C' drive.
I also made the dumb mistake of deleting the game for a fresh install without first deactivating it. As a result I had to go into the registry; and delete all all vestiges of SOW from both the Matrix and MorbSoft files found there.
For those of you who have screwed up their install as much as I have, I found the following workable.
For Win7-64 owners the path is:
Search: regedit will reference >redit.exe. Open this.
>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
>SOFTWARE
>Wow 6432 Node
>Norbsoft
>Matrix
>Norbsoft
Delete NorbSoft entries only.
Reinstall SOWG; install Matrix 1.5 revised patch. The game will activate on the new patch istallation, when your key code is entered.
I realize that this is a reiterization of what been posted above. But I post it as reminder that the game can be reinstalled and patched even by cranky old guys that growl at revised 1's & 0's!
Regards all and thanks again for the help.

I had the same issue. I did not see the revision to 1.5 until I had downloaded and run the first version and could not change from C: to D: When I reinstalled to D it locked me into demo mode. I deleted the Matrix Game keys in the registery and then reinstalled 1.5rev. Game then worked as I created a 180,000 strong Army vs Army point blank sandbox game and it ran fine. Now to figure out why some of my mods are broken.
