Bugles & Flags XIX

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

James,

Until you get your own creations ready to share, you are perfectly welcome to use this thread to discuss your progress and ideas. Also, thanks for the flag ideas. Great to hear we've got another OOB researcher and scenario designer in our midst...you go General. :)

Thank you very kindly RebBugler. I just want to be extra careful not to come across as meaning something I don't. I'm glad it came out the way I meant it.

As soon as I get the first one done I will send you the first one so you can critique it. I'm sure there will be a lot to critique, but I hope overall it will be a nice add on scenarios.

Thank you again for ALL that you have done!

Reb - Hey, how is everything in the great state of Arkansas !

Question - How do I edit the tga files when I'm removing the Hi-light from around the flags?

The dds files are very simple to edit, can't figure out the tga ones.

Thanks,

davinci

Get Paint.Net, free download. Just open them with that app and edit away. I have all my flags saved in layers with the border hi light saved on a separate layer, so, easy to remove. Can't believe this bugs ya so, the hi light helps show what's selected...but not my business, we all have our druthers. ;)

Hope the app works for ya...

Thanks, I have Photoshop - but I'm not seeing a Alpha-Channel with the tga files.

I think that we all have that how do I change this about the game , mine is the hi-lighted border around the flags, and those icons above the men. That's why you will never see either one in any of my screenshots.

I'll try it again!

Thanks,

davinci

It was late and I wasn't thinking. Just delete the even numbers of frames, and copy/paste, then move the odd numbers to the right in their place. There is no alpha manipulation involved doing it this way.

As promised, HD Flags for The Texas Brigade - 1st, 4th, 5th Texas, and the 3rd Arkansas, known fondly as the 2nd Texas

Attached is the stand alone mod, it can be used with Bugles and Flags OOBs. The next version of Bugles and Flags will probably include this HD set.

Place this mod below Bugles and Flags in Modifications to replace the standard same named flags.

This HD Flag mod replaces the majority of the 3rd Bunting standard resolution flags with four styles in HD. Besides improving the quality, reducing the number of different flags displayed has tested to improve CPU performance.

Attached is the stand alone mod, it is only effective with Bugles and Flags OOBs. This is presently planned to remain a separate mod, and not be consolidated into B&F with the next version. Feedback your ideas about this if you feel otherwise.

Place this mod below Bugles and Flags in Modifications and enable to replace most of the standard 3rd Bunting flags.

HD Flags 3rd Bunting

The four styles of HD replacements represent Virginia (with and without Honors), Georgia and Alabama:

Reb - do these new flags cover North Carolina and the great state of Tennessee?

Not the last four that you did, but the earlier ones in the HD set!
