Re: Windows 8 Discussion
Here is another cool feature I just found out about simply by messing around. Say for instance you have several programs open such as Firefox, The Store, and some other programs, just move your mouse to the upper left, or bottom left corner, and move your mouse pointer up or down along the edge. You will see a panel appear which will show you what programs you have open. This is extremely handy since you no longer have to ALT-TAB, or click on the taskbar to open up closed or hidden windows. Also, to close a window or app (keep the sidebar open) just right click on it, and select close. Check out the Screenshot below.

Here is a small app that is free from the Microsoft store that will come in handy. {see pics]
Also there are allot of free apps to choose. I installed Skype with no trouble, and imagine if they can come up with a Team Speak app, now that would be useful. Talk about bringing the tablet to the PC.

Here is something I have found very useful. Take your mouse pointer, and go to the top right, or bottom right corner, a sidebar will open, then select Settings, select Change PC Settings. On your left will appear a few options. Choose Search. All the apps you have installed will be included in any search you do. To search, while in the MainUI, just enter what you want to search for. You can turn off each of these apps in the search list. [see pics]
The pic below is me searching for "BOX" from the MainUI, and Minecraft panel came up with a hit.

Ahhh, Windows 8 is simply amazing...I found something else which is very, very useful.
Take your mouse pointer, go to the lower left hand corner, and right-click. WOW! What a time saver that is... [see pic]
I hope no one minds me posting about this. I get pretty damn excited when I find out something new, I'm like a kid in a candy store. Microsoft has struck gold in a big way.

Me again.
Here is the full list of Windows 8 Shortcut Keys. If you are running Windows 8 just search for shortcuts, and you can install the free app from the MS store.

Re: Windows 8 Discussion
Here is an interesting free app from the MS store. It's a real time stock market simulator which you play the with fake currency (10.000 dollars). I normally play the stock market game called "Wall Street Raider" when I have a hankering to do so.

Reason for posting this is I decided to take away, and have some fun messing with what is in the MS store.

Re: Windows 8 Discussion
I don't think anyone is getting tired of this topic at all! Sooner or later stuff breaks, and someone on this forum will end up with a computer with Win8 on it. It's good that you're testing it out for us, and showing us how to get around on it.
I haven't fired up my virtual machine yet, or decided to install it on my real machine. I'm busy trying to transfer all of my wife's data from 2 computers to her new laptop, then I have to try and get the tea out of mom-in-law's keyboard. Then I have to see if my cousin's hard drive died, or I can fix her blue screen with a format/reinstall. Then I've got several real life things to do. Perhaps sometime I'll get to play a little SoWG!

#2: BB Flashback is to release an update for their software to make it more compatible Windows 8.
I am moving more toward my video drivers being the cause, not Windows 8 or BB Flashback. This software works very well in Windows 7 (My video card drivers are up to-date).
Also I have read some information that the Steam Client works in Windows 8 (can't see why it wouldn't) and some games do work via Steam, and some don't. Same goes for X-Fire. The client works well (as it would), some things do need to be cleaned up. Some games work, some don't. That is not Windows 8 fault, it's the developers of the front end launcher that needs to be worked on.
Have a good one!
I'll try my best to keep up with what works, and doesn't. I have only come across one piece of software that just is not cutting the mustard so to speak, and that is "BB Flashback". BB Flashback is a video recorder for recording either any location on your desktop, or full screen, and which allows you to export to Flash, and AVI. If I record say Minecraft (windowed) the game slows to a choppy crawl which can be two reasons.I don't think anyone is getting tired of this topic at all! No kidding, life is full of things to do. You have plenty of time. Normally 6 months is a standard rule of thumb to read, and watch what goes on with any new operating system (that is if you do not test drive your own copy first). Most bugs are normally spotted, and fixed with in a 8 month period.I haven't fired up my virtual machine yet, or decided to install it on my real machine. Re: Windows 8 Discussion
Listen up folks. If you do decide to purchase Windows 8, I would suggest that you grab yourself a free registration key for "Windows Media Center Pack". Once you register, an email will be sent to you (within 24 hours) with your free installation serial.
Microsoft Website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... ture-packs
[Example - My personal Email/Registration]
Note: I haven't installed/registered my copy of the Windows 8 Media pack yet, I decided to install the latest Windows 7 media Pack which works fine (better to test out the old pack first). I haven't had any problems running it, just to let you know you can use the version for Windows 7.

Re: Windows 8 Discussion
Here is something I really like with Windows 8 which is standard issue. Most of you will say it's a small addition, but I personally like it all the same. [see pic below). MS has decided to add Windows defender as a default Anti-Virus which so far I have found useful. Also it's very non-intrusive, and in no way has crippled any game, or piece of software I am using like so many other anti-virus programs have done in the past, and still do.
