Looking around and finding (own) units
Looking around and finding (own) units
I am still going through the tutorials and I have often found myself wanting to look behind, to check that my men are still with me - sometimes they run off somewhere, without my knowing about it!
So is there a "quick look" option, rather than having to pan the 'camera' slowly round? Even I do that, it does not seem to show the units where I expect them to be. Not even the correct terrain, come to that. Maybe my graphics card is not fast enough.
I know that I can look at the map but that doesn't always seem to be "in sync" either and the distances can be difficult to judge.
"Fog of War" obviously plays a part (as it should) but not being able to have a quick look around seems silly. Fromm my first point, it may also be desirable to have an "automatic" look when something catches the commander's attention.
Thanks ...
Richard

Use the direction keys on your keyboard to cycle around the chain of command.

As in http://www.norbsoftdev.net/forum/techni ... d-controls.
I wish that image could be displayed from Help or somewhere! Perhaps it can be.

Also, the navigation arrows are included on the toolbar.

Re: Looking around and finding (own) units
Actually I have seen that keyboard display now recently, whilst the tutorial is loading (I think). I didn't do anything to get that display however - it just appeared, as if my magic!
Do I need to install that toolbar, or does it come with the latest version?

Yes, it must be installed or modded in.

Re: Looking around and finding (own) units
Another gripe is that I often want to click on a unit shown on the map - to select it - but that results in the currently selected commander/unit(s) moving in that direction! It would be nice to have an initial "de-select" option so that the map is more independent.
Also having a list of commander and associated units would be good. Cycling through them via the arrow keys is a bit tedious, especially if I don't know where they are in the first place. Perhaps their location should be shown in the Details panel.

Re: Looking around and finding (own) units
If you click on the OOB button you get a list of all troops. You can also select one there, and then click 'close and go to unit'.
Re: Looking around and finding (own) units
Thanks for that but where is the OOB button? Sorry to be naive.
