T,
Sure it's a .44? My recollection is a Colt Navy is a .36. Thought the Colt Army was a .44. Could be wrong.

Hi T-storm,
Glad to hear that your "revolver" is simulation only. I recommend you keep it that way.
Now, regarding the game. Giving a present to a teenaged boy once is probably OK .... doing it twice might be misconstrued.
BUT, considering that you are halfway around the world from me, I might be able to help without prejudice.
I downloaded SOWG when it first came out and later I purchased the CD, so I had two registration codes with NorbSoft. I subsequently gave one of these codes to pielord
When Matrix took over, I repurchased the whole game and extensions from them to avoid the problems that I was reading about on registration transfer.
So I had. and still have, a Norbsoft registration for which I had no further use.
Unfortunately when I downloaded from Matrix, I zapped the Norbsoft version of the game from my computer without releasing up the Norbsoft code. So it is still locked up to me somewhere in the system at Norbsoft. I don't think the new Matrix system has altered this.
But, if you purchased your version of the game from Matrix, I am not sure if an old Norbsoft code will unlock it. The transfer to pielord came before Chancellorsville and Matrix. Perhaps someone can advise me.
If that is the case, you might have to hope that someone on the forum might still have on their computer drive a downloaded 'install' file for the old Norbsoft version of SOWG that you might unlock with my code. Then of course you would need all the later patches as well to bring it to v.1.5

Hi t-Storm
Further to my recent post.
I discover it is still possible to download the old demo version of SOWG v 1.4 free from the following website
http://www.justallinone.com/index.php/c ... Itemid=493
This version incorporated a demo (now discontinued by Matrix) and could, I believe, still be unlocked to the full game using my old code if I can get NorbSoft to release it. You could then patch the program to v.1.5, download all the mods and eventually extend it to include Antietam, Pipe Creek, and Chancellorsville ( pocket money and the need to extend your arsenal permitting)
Let us hope.

None of my business, but as this is being discussed in public, on a public forum, I thought I'd chip in with my personal opinion.
I think you've been very generous, Geoff, but I would prefer teenagers to buy what they can afford. Parents give allowances and 'ration' purchasing for a reason. I'm uncomfortable with children asking for gifts and even more uncomfortable with the lack of gratitude shown by some.
My 2d worth.
Jeff

Hi Blaugrana,
Thanks for the comment. I always rate your posts.
Half of me agrees with you. I would much rather the lad had got his priorities right and had bought the game rather than the revolver. But no Brit will ever understand the weird thinking across the pond where everyone sees himself as a latter-day Davy Crockett.
The other half says that, if I have what is now for me a completely unusable release code going spare, I might as well donate it to attract a seemingly well-intentioned teenager to this worthy game rather than to lose him to some of the other appalling alternative games on the market. Hopefully, once hooked, he will eventually invest in the extensions. This is our future.
If I had just said "Here is a cheque for $ XXX, young man. Go and buy the game", I would probably have well-deserved your scolding. Remember though the lad didn't actually ask for the game ..... it was young pielord, of recent memory, who floated the idea. I was always a soft touch.
Never having had any children of my own to spoil (or not), I am not really in a good position to analyse any negative effects. Your post suggests your experience in this field might be a good deal different.
Having made the offer, I am not of course going to withdraw it. But I would be interested to hear any other comments from the forum. It won't happen again of course .... this is the only spare code that I have.
Best regards,
Geoff Laver Late of Her Britannic Majesty's 57th Regiment of Foot
