Download Problems with MediaFire
I am having problems downloading the latest 'Road to Wagram' files using Firefox.
It seems to me to be somewhat optimistic to offer a 300MB download using a server (MediaFire) that seems not to offer any 'resume' facility.
I operate from rural Africa using a very slow satellite link (30kB/sec max). 300MB takes me about 3 hours to download and I cannot run my computer for three hours without a power blip of some sort stopping the computer.
With nsd downloads, I use DAP which enables me to invoke the 'resume' but this doesn't work with MediaFire.
Any suggestions ???

Grab this util Ingles, it's called Download manager, and believe me once you use it you will not use anything else out there. It's works well with Firefox, Chrome, and most other webbrowsers, and it's FREE.I am having problems downloading the latest 'Road to Wagram' files using Firefox.

Re: Download Problems with MediaFire
We'll get Gunship up to snuff and using our TEAM server, should be no probs then.
How's it going Geoff old friend? Great to see ya around the forum a lot lately, that Nap tweak with 1.6 has definitely stirred up interest globally.

Thanks Mike and Reb, I will try those suggestions.
Would you believe I am paying $200 a month for this ultra-slow satellite .... plus $300 a year licence to the Zimbabwean government to be allowed to use it
Also there is a very limited download allowance so I would usually break a big file into max 60MB chunks and spread the download, progressively resuming over six days or so.
Otherwise the server Gestapo send me to the sin-bin for a spell .......
Answering your question Reb, I am still surviving despite the sciatica. Still got the best air in the world here.

One point may interest you.
I have got the local african schoolteacher interested in the game. I set ALPHA.OMEGA on and we alternate at the keyboard for spells of five minutes or whatever ... each playing one side exclusively whilst the other retires out of sight with his beer.
Gentlemens' agreements in force of course forbidding you to sneakily 'retreat' all your opponents units during your spell.
This does provide a fair level of competitive human play where communication limitations do not allow for full multiplayer. Must always remember to hit '2' though before you leave to allow AI to manage the store for you while you are away.

Reb, if you are able to host the large file that you would be good news. I have the Logisitics files spereated from the large file so i can upload changes more easily. B)

Mike,
I managed to install the Download Manager that you recommended.
Using it together with it's Firefox plug-in, I have now managed to set up a 'resume' function for MediaFire.
As I am informed that it will currently take 14 hours to download 300MB, I am waiting until the satellite performance improves before going any further !

You really need your own folder so you can update at will. Ask Norb to set you up with the hosting server then I can walk you through it.Reb, if you are able to host the large file that you would be good news. That is good news that you installed it. Yeah it has a great resume function which comes in handy for larger files.Mike,

I feel your Pain (internet speed). The 14 hours reminds me of when I was using my dialup connection (one year ago to be exact).
It's a great download, and so far works well in SP, and MP.
Cheers!

Re: Download Problems with MediaFire
Hi Mike,
An update.
I started the download of the Wagram file yesterday morning using Free Download Manager.
This morning at about 6.00 am, after several hours downloading and numerous 'resumes', Free Download Manager announced with a flourish that it had finally downloaded the 288MB.
When I went to the downloads folder, all I found was a token file of 1KB. What the hell it did with the data it had downloaded God only knows. Probably came down corrupt.
I shall leave this for the moment. I am not into MP and I can continue to play Wagram adequately using the old Mods.
I shall have another look when the download becomes available from a more friendly server than MediaFire.

Sorry that it took me this long to get back to you (just installed Windows 8 pro), I normally monitor this site continuously.Hi Mike,

Okay, Free Download Manager will download your files to a default location (I'm trying to remember where).
Okay, startup Free Download Manager, then right click on the file (see pic for example), then select Open Folder. It should take you to where the file has been saved.
I hope this helps, if not please let me know.
