Davinci, thanks for the chart....easy to read now with your explanation.
And Jack, I just might take you up on that!
And I see by the example that I can pull brigades from other divisions in the army from a standard OOB to place under a division commander. That is exactly what I want to be able to do. Thanks! I'll start working on it this weekend.

That would be the easy way out of this, but probably not the best solution…here me out on this! And Jack, I just might take you up on that!
This is one of the least complicated files that Norb has designed for this game.
Once you understand the numbering structure you can add \ subtract \ modify any of the existing OOB’s that have been created.
The learning curve at first is quite confusing, but after that you will see how simple it is.
Yes, an Excel type program is essential when editing an OOB, most of the work is just Copy & Paste . After that all you have to do is just edit the Commander’s picture, and select the correct flag for any particular unit. And I see by the example that I can pull brigades from other divisions in the army from a standard OOB to place under a division commander. That is exactly what I want to be able to do.

Thank you again, Davinci. All of this really helps---it's what I needed to know to get started.

Re: Creating our own Corps
This is how to edit the OOB when you are adding in a second Division.
Note – You should only have eight Brigades in a Division , this is how the game is programmed, but considering that I’m controlling the confederate forces I have more than eight brigades.
But, for the units that are controlled by the AI they only have eight Brigades in each division, but I assigned them another division, so that there are the same amount of troops on the field as I have.
Back on Topic :
Other than the Commander of the army, you can just copy and paste all of the information in the E \ F \ G columns, so the only columns that are left are the H \ I \ J columns.
Now, since the Divisions go by 100 and General Pickett is already listed as 100 , the next division must be 200 . If you added another division it would be 300 .
Notice how all of the units under General Pickett have a 1 in the H \ Column !
So, any units that are under General Hood which starts at 200 must have a 2 in the H \ Column .
Now, for the remainder of the units you will only be working in the last two columns which are I and J columns .
The first brigade must start off at 10 and any regiment goes by one from that to …..eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, etc…until it’s the last regiment in that particular brigade.
Same as before, the next brigade starts at 20 .
Artillery units are added the same way that brigades are, and listed as if you were listing a brigade by following the same type of number system.
The Supply Wagons – will only have a number and then followed by a zero as in the example. I have four of them listed, so I’m not sure if there is a limit.
The Example 3 picture is how you would end an OOB.
The courier must be the last line for both armies, and it also must have the highest number. There are several different ways to achieve the higher number.
I always try to list it as if I’m adding in another Corps Commander which goes by 1000 . But, I think that I could have just did it like I was adding in another Division and made the numbers 2 1 1 3 0 0 instead of 2 1 2 0 0 0 .
Note – certain errors in the OOB will cause the game to crash with no information in the log file.
So, if the game crash on startup – its probably the OOB.
The regiments can be listed out of order such as eleven, thirteen, fourteen, fourteen, sixteen – and the game will not crash or show an error in the log file.
Most of the other columns can be copy and pasted except the Picture for the Officers but you can get that info from one of the default OOB’s.

Creating/modifying OOBs is always the first step of becoming a modder. Before you know it, you'll be creating MP scenarios. Then Single Player scenarios...
