Can we have brighter skies?

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Thank you both!

I will try to see what I can see.

If I already have a graphic mod (for trees, say) installed, will it be over-written by these modded files?

T,

No it should only effect the sky colors.

Okay, this sucks - For some reason I cannot attach the Kansas KS.ini file to this post. First time for that. Will keep fiddling here and see what is wrong. Great - another mystery. Grrrr....
Jack - When adding an attachment - you have to use Internet Explorer , the Mozilla FireFox doesn't work with attachments.

Brother,

Am using Internet Explorer. Don't use Mozilla. Haven't for years.

I just tried this setting, but I can't really tell if the sky got any brighter.

Sky
SkyCubeR=255
SkyCubeG=255
SkyCubeB=255
SkyCubeR=255
SkyCubeG=255
SkyCubeB=255
SkyAlpha=255
SkyPlaneR=255
SkyPlaneG=255
SkyPlaneB=255

Slightly Jumping Topic: I did find out that changing the SkyAlpha=255 to a lower number causes the sky to become darker [/] , as if a thunder-storm is coming.

There is also another way of doing this, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are playing Multi-Player, it may cause a problem.

The Sky has never been locked , it is one of the few files that you could Mod when the game first came out.

So, if another Map has a sky-effect that you like, you can just extract that sky-effect from that map, and place it into the map that you are playing on.

This would require the LibEdit tool, that is one of the Map \ Tools that were used in the previous game to Mod \ Make maps.
