Bugles & Flags XIX

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

In building version XII I'm seeking some advice with this post. Below, listed in order from left to right are the 20th Wisconsin, the 20th Wisconsin enhanced, the 4th Wisconsin, and the 3rd Wisconsin regimental flags. I plan to only include one Wisconsin flag, maybe two if I find room on the flag sheets, but really can't allow more for the limited amount of overall Wisconsin regiments...six.

So, with the included mod I'm making them all available for folks to mod into their own OOBs if they wish. This sandbox mod can also be some fun. It's a fantasy legion, small division, made up of elite Wisconsin veterans going against a large Rebel division...select division vs division play for the cool imbalance of this David vs Goliath action.

If you please, check out the mod and flags, and state your preferences.
Unzip and place in the Mods folder, it must be enabled along with Bugles and Flags.

I prefer the third, Reb.

Many thanks for your continued efforts.

I prefer flags three and four , but I think that the faded look on three is probably the best one.

For some reason the first two sort of remind me of a smiley-face, which probably isn't good!

Hey Reb, I'll have to go with the third one as well. They all look great. Any hint on release of X11?

Ha, smiley face, didn't even see it, but now it glares...thanks for the insight.

Trying to get it out by the Gettysburg 150th date, early July.

Thanks guys, yeah, I was leaning to the Wisconsin 4th regimental flag, 3rd in line, you all confirmed... :)

This flag mod demonstrates some new flag design characteristics of the upcoming update...can ya spot the changes? Of course, just the Wisconsin flags are updated with the new look.

2 and 4 are my preference but due solely to the more saturated colours. I think the success of all projects like these rests of choices like colour palette and colour saturation so that everything is consistent. The actual flags chosen is far less important that the overall balance of colours and clarity of image.

Thanks for the input...

Glad to hear your take on the saturation issue. Many folks like the desaturated effects but I find it difficult to make this satisfactory as reds turn pink. And Damned Pink Flags just don't cut it. :S

I would say that some of us prefer the worn-out-look as if the flag appears used and sort of dirty.

Hah, that's funny!

Your work is great and much appreciated. Personally, I'm in the 'desaturated' camp, perhaps not quite as faded as No3 but that is my favourite. Perhaps, between No1 and No3.

It would be interesting for me to see an Confederate army with desaturated flag of your design to see if the faded 'pink' look is unrealistic.
