Inter-game mods

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Inter-game mods

Post by r6751 »

Hi
I bought Gettysburg, Chancellorsville, and Pipe Creek games. My question is this: All the mods so far are for Gettysburg. Can any be loaded in the Chancellorsville game? I don't want to mess things up by attempting it.

Since Pipe Creek is itself a mod/addon, I assume no problems.

That's the good thing about our modding system; you can install them without messing anything up. Just delete it if it causes issues. I know some of graphical/toolbar stuff will work with Chancellorsville. Most everything will work with Pipe Creek as well. Like I mentioned, won't hurt anything to try it out yourself.

LP is right. You cannot ever do any harm by installing a mod. You need to activate it via the in-game Modifications menu option before it has any effect, so you can install 100s of different mods and switch them in and out as you like.

Generally any of the ACW mods will work with any and all of the ACW add-on packs, including the community-made ones.

If you have certain mods you want to install and have questions about compatibility then just ask away here, someone will get you sorted out.
HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.

Thanks, guys. I did as you said and took a look at my newest game, Antietam. There was only one glitch with the maps. I had a map called mini maps and I don't think that one goes with the game well. What you get is the big map behind the small one. The big map is completely black, as are the buttons. To get out of it you have to hit Escape key.

I also noticed the Messages Sent list is totally black. The items are there if you click em but you cannot see any list.

You might want to try this minimap mod by Marching Through Georgia (which has some useful changes to the courier commands, also). It is very popular, I believe.

There is also a large minimap version (+50%)included as an option for those who use screens of vertical resolution of 1024 or more.

Garnier,s Random maps mods (numbered 1-6) are excellent too. Some are very large, and with the accompanying Terrain mod activated, look very nice.

Thanks, downloaded this AM and will give that a try.

I'm doing all the training before diving into battle. Usually I just go for it, but this looks so good I want to enjoy it without tantrums. (grin)
