Brigades/ regiments not responding to courier orders !!

I understand this is a classic problem if a player is not ordering the correct formation, but in recent scenarios I have tried every conceivable formation to get my units to move but the brigades just move up a few feet, change into a line formation, and then stop dead.
I am wondering if it could be an options issue. Does anyone have any ideas why my units would not respond to courier orders?

Have you tried Taking Command of the Brigade leader?

Also, it appears that the units are close to an enemy unit, this is why they form into line.

*** If you have command over them, such as they are under you - you can use the courier-system to TC of the Brigade leader, and the regiments. This would prevent them from stopping and firing.

Thanks but it has nothing to do with presence of enemy. I have tried sandbox too with enemy units not in sight and no response. however if I try playing Pipe Creek they respond as they are supposed to.

I am just wondering if someone can chime in here that knows this game? Why would the game stop responding to courier orders? I have checked the options to and they are on "side."
the click command orders works are it is supposed to but I always like to play by courier.
It is very frustrating to watch the courier riding to its destination and give an order with no response. I just cannot fathom this. and no enemy units anywhere in sight.

Before the last two patches came out there was a bug in the courier system that sometimes preventing the orders from being obeyed.

So, assuming that you do have the latest patches which would bring your game to 1.6 or 1.61 .

List the scenario that you are playing, and also list the rank that you are playing.

Can you list the orders like you are giving them, this will help to determine what you are doing wrong.

Send Message \ or whatever the command says to send!

I was not playing the current patch. I was 1.50
I have updated any the problem is not there now.

You were victim of the time bug. In your first courier order. click on the Time & Date tab and select the time at the top of the list. Then write your orders as usual. The unit will respond as you would anticipate. You only have to set the time once in a game, so do it with your very first order.

Note, this bug gets fixed and then reintroduced with every other patch for some reason. The 1.6001 beta patch had this fixed, but it is back in the 1.61 release.

MTG - Since the bug was first introduced, I just made it a habit of clicking the Time \ Date button, but you don't have to select a time. Clicking the Time \ Date button alone seems to reset the bug.
