Re: Great Campaigns of the Civil War - Jacksons 1862 Valley Campaign Released
How do you guys play the mod in sandbox. Just "Hunt em down"?
It would be very nice if some basic scenarios would be included...

Hey Leffe7,
I usually play Army vs. Army, and 'Hunt them down' as you never know where or when the action will take place on your way to the Objective.I usually setup 1 Objective.

I should have the amended version of Jacksons valley campaign uploaded by tomorrow inc the file that RebBugler kindly added. And thank's for the PMs and posts on this. B)
Once the Valley is complete I'm going to look at another campaign that quite a few have messaged about in the forum over the last few months:
McClellan's 1862 Peninsula Campaign. All the major battles will be covered plus a few of the skirmishes.
So it will be goodbye to cutesy divisional-style battles in the valleys and Hello full frontal corps assaults!!!! :woohoo:  :woohoo:
In the background I'm also looking/researching a western campaign which will be released after the peninsula

Hey Zeke,
Quick historical fix for those CSA bunting issues, should you choose to use it, and you probably won't have to mess with the OOBs at all. All buntings assigned now are 2nd bunting issues, exception, arty commanders are assigned 1st buntings.
This gfx file replaces your's, flag lines are simply added to your four lines. Your mod must be prioritized below B&F for this to work correctly. Once downloaded, rename attachment to gfx with the extension .csv if necessary.

As per previous posts:
- Please ensure you are patched to v 1.61
- Please ensure you have the newest version of the Bugles and flags mod (and the blood mod
) installed already - this is important as the valley campaign will over write certain screens and formations.
- Please ensure that you don't have an old version of "Gettysburg 3 days in 7 hrs" (newest version works fine)as you can see in a couple of previous posts here that it will that will cause crashes when using Bugles and flags and my campaign.
Anyway enjoy folks and let us know how you get on in the valley!
Zeke

Mr. Zeke.
I can't thank you enough. This is truly yeoman work you've undertaken.
As to which OOBs to work on next? It's hard for me to choose amongst such pivotal and long sought for army organizations. So I'll let you do what is most convenient and desirable for you. Honestly, there is no wrong move. I'll just sit back and enjoy the ride. B)
Again, thank you so much.
Best,
Gary K.

Sorry. I suffer from a serious case of typosis. Don't worry, it's not contagious

Zeke-
Using my imagination a little, I remembered General Gordon's pre-Gettysburg strike into Pennsylvania. It almost reached Harrisburg, but the long bridge into the city was burnt and the troops were recalled for the Gettysburg attack. I know this isn't your priority right now, but it was a relatively small campaign that nonetheless used infantry, artillery, and cavalry in a continuous way after Gordon entered Gettysburg (some time before the big battle).

I could certainly look at this at some point Don B) - This is actually not a well know fact that the Confederates under Ewell had already been through Gettysburg once before looking for supplies before the Battle of Gettysburg paying for the supplies in worthless confederate currency. This is why the townsfolk were glad to see Buford and his cavalry.Zeke-

This sort of blows the theory that the battle occurred due to Harry Heth being on the hunt for shoes - which was/is boloney. He was in fact under orders to reconnoitre the town and take possession if at all possible. Gettysburg was not a insignificant back-water but a central hub connecting several roads in the area, therefore the town was of strategic importance to Lee and his army. However Heth was under strict orders not to bring on a general engagement until the army had converged.....Well he sort of failed on that point!!

Yeah, for sure. And once you start modding SOW, it's almost a given that you won't return to that  other game...it's like night to day.I have to say the built in modifications ability in SOW is one of the games best features!!
