Trans-Mississippi Map Pack

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

John is still here. True immorality is not fame or infamy. It’s not even progeny. It’s your contribution to those around you. John developed and honed several of the methods and tools that have greatly enhanced the art that is Scourge of War. So he’s still here, and will always be. He is alive in his handiwork for which we will continue to be blessed henceforth. The same is true of all of you fine craftsmen on the Scourge of War team, and talented modders. Thank you all.
Sorry. I suffer from a serious case of typosis. Don't worry, it's not contagious :)

Continuing Texas John's legacy, his Red River Campaign Maps are up next as they are presently being readied for release...then, Pea Ridge. These will be offered in two separate releases so they can have individualized SPLASH screens and other unique sundries. Later maybe all John's works can be included as one pack, as he wished for his Trans-Mississippi Pack release. As you may have surmised, Wilson's Creek was never built, but we can well imagine what a beautiful motif ala TJ it would have been.
Guys, I am sorry that I was unable to get out the 4 Red River Maps before I was asked to help create the next expansion. As a result it will be a Trans-Mississippi Campaign map pack to include Wilson's Creek, Pea Ridge, Prairie Grove, Mansfield, Pleasant Hill, Yellow Bayou, and Jenkins' Ferry. All the maps have been completed minus Wilson's Creek. But the other 6 are in the bag and revamped. I wanted to post some updated pics of Prairie Grove, Mansfield, and Pleasant Hill though. Enjoy and recomendations are welcome.
And it will all be free!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the update. That's good to know and a fitting tribute to their creator.

I'm a big fan of the Trans Mississippi, and will get a real thrill out of playing on these.

Will those very nice new Confederate flags be part of the release please?

The vegetation and so on are John's strong point I think. His tress, grasses and crops are wonderful. I did notice that the pixelly ground textures appear to be these maps weak point, if there is one, especially when viewed against the improved ground textures of the v1.6.1 patch.

Might there be an opportunity to redo the ground textures in line with 1.6.1?

Thanks Martin,

Yes, the 18 month old 1864 flags will be included, archaic to me now since I've moved on to different techniques and High Detail. Still, at least they will finally get released after sitting in storage for so long. Time permitting, I'll get them upgraded at a later date.

And TJ thanks you Tank,

What you see is what you get. Ground textures are Little Powell's department now, he's mainly responsible for the great strides there as demonstrated by SOW's latest releases. He's real busy now with our next adventure, but I know he's listening.

Yeah and we have Jolly working with us now (you should all be familiar with his great vegetation skills), among other talents.

The next adventure is the focus right now, but I wouldn't rule out going back and upgrading some of these older maps when things settle down.

Thank you LP, that was all I was wanting to hear.
