Newbie - Gettysburg Demo - Artillery

Post by seller »

Just downloaded the 1.6 Demo and have been playing in the Sandbox to determine whether or not to purchase full SOW.

Had a situation where I TC'd a couple of Union batteries to defend against an approaching column of Confederate artillery. The Rebs stayed in column to within about 100 yds., where I opened fire using "Target Artillery" and "Cannister". Other than halting the column and creating chaos in their ranks, there was very little battle damage on the field after several minutes of cannonade.

Am I expecting too much to see cannon, caissons, horses, etc. littering the field at such close range? Is this demo-related limited functionality?

I also tried selective targeting, with no apparent effect on individual units.

Thx

Don't TC the individual guns, only the battery commander, giving him the target artillery, use canister commands.

At a 100 yards, you should decimate the enemy battery in less than a minute.

Thx. Should I expect to see any wreckage when artillery is destroyed?

I think if you canister them the gun crew will route and take the gun with them. If you hit a gun with solid shot, there is wreckage on the field.
