When the Follow key is pressed the camera height is locked to the ground-height level, which is good.
The problem with that is that the camera cannot be rotated to view the area, without pressing the F Key once again.
When switching to another unit, the camera will go from the ground-level too quite a distance in the air, roughly twenty to thirty feet in height, this is quite annoying.
Question - Has anyone figured out a way of moving rotating the camera and having it remain at the ground level when switching views?
Thanks,
davinci

Re: Camera Height Question:
I remember this being requested a while back, and the camera is supposed to maintain it's current height when you move to different units. This is when you have pressed the F key twice. I just confirmed this with the latest version of the game. Sometimes it may appear that the camera is changing heights, but this is because of the different terrain elevations.

Correct!
Hmm, I never gave the elevation a thought, such as the elevation of unit #1 compared to the elevation of unit #2.I just confirmed this with the latest version of the game. Sometimes it may appear that the camera is changing heights, but this is because of the different terrain elevations.
But the camera should stay at a certain distance from the ground regardless of the elevation.
This is probably one of My biggest complaints, there shouldn't be a helicopter view in the Civil War.

Re: Camera Height Question:
We tried setting the 'max camera up speed' in the .ini to 0 last time this came up. Did that not help?
Re: Camera Height Question:
Well, as far as I can tell, this still doesn't work, the camera height will still default back to the previous units height. I never noticed that before LP mentioned it.We tried setting the 'max camera up speed' in the .ini to 0 last time this came up. Did that not help?
I'm sort of surprised that I'm the only one complaining about this, why wouldn't the camera be locked at the ground level and still allow panning around.
"Oh Well" - disregard.....this topic......I'll figure something else out pertaining to this.....
Thanks for the suggestions!

Re: Camera Height Question:
I was a bit surpised to find that, when I go into Follow mode, I cannot rotate my camera or pan up and down; is it intended that it just locks it into the straight ahead orientation?
If there was a way to make it not strafe or move pro- retrograde, but able to rotate and pan that would be cool to me. Then, you could play "HITS-lite" meaning, you have the option to make use of Normal Difficulty settings if you desperately need to, but you can simply click follow mode to approximate HITS.

Yes, press the 'F' key a second time. You can then rotate and move up and down, like a periscope.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.
