How does coop multiplay work? Can you coop vs AI? (waterloo precedent qq)
I am wondering if waterloo will have coop. But come to think of it I do not know how coop works in gettysburg.
Can I play with a friend VS the AI thereby hand holding new players and friends who want to casual?
P.S. I just looked at the gettysburg demo again. Hopefully the graphics and the animations with both look better and have more frames for waterloo.

Yes, the mp will work much the same with some new features.

Co-op works very well, in fact, only last night we had a very close fight against the AI. This was with roughly equel forces but was, admittedly, with HITS settings which does level the playing field somewhat.

I played in last night's battle too, and agree it was a good closely-fought game.
To set up a game vs the AI in MP all you need to do is create a sandbox game as you would for SP. You can choose to have additional AI forces on your own side if you wish. We sometimes put all human players in one corps for example, alongside another friendly AI corps, and facing an AI opponent.
Last night's game was fought at corps level, against an enemy AI corps of uncertain strength. As it turned-out, the 2 forces were fairly evenly matched, although they might not have been. We find that uncertainty adds to the excitement, but if that doesn't float your boat, you can always tick the 'Balance force' button in sandbox.
Instead of using sandbox, we often create scenarios using Leffe's excellent Scenario Generator. These may be for play between 2 human teams, but are also often designed for coop play vs the AI instead. That way you can define the strength of the 2 sides, and also specify how they are initially positioned on the map, to give an interesting game.
Hope that helps, but happy to answer any other questions. If you are interested in HITS and couriers, feel free to join us for games. We are running 2 per week at the moment. Our group forum is at http://kriegsspiel.forumotion.net/

We are very glad to hear how well it's working out. Our goal was not to be fancy, but be solid instead. There are always bugs, but the fact that you can have large successful games is very encouraging to hear. We hope to continue in WL.

Yes, the MP game is very stable these days - both in ACW, and Napoleonic (using the excellent mods). We are very glad to hear how well it's working out. Really looking forward to the new features in Wellington. It cannot come soon enough

Co-op vs the AI is one the the great unique features of SOW. I play this way in Sandbox with a particular friend quite often. It would be fun to have some scripted scenarios created with it in mind.

Yes indeed, scripting of AI controlled units in MP would make for some very interesting scenarios.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.
