Supply Wagons
Hello Everyone,

The supply wagons try to stay in the region of the Division commander. You can either TC the wagon or keep the Div CO relatively stationary. Not much else can be done beyond that.

I can't really offer any more advice from Jim's post other than make sure that you keep the Divisional Commander under the TC also. The supply wagons try to stay in the region of the Division commander. You can either TC the wagon or keep the Div CO relatively stationary. Not much else can be done beyond that.

This will prevent him from wandering off which should keep the Supply Wagons from moving.
After the latest patch the wagons do act a little-bit better.

I have simply removed the wagons from any custom OOBs I have going. In most cases, (US Sharpshooters exempted), The troops generally don't run out of rounds during a fight. For the sharpshooters, I've just given them 10 more rounds. If they run out, oh well.

Jack , I went in the complete opposite direction that you did by giving each man 100 rounds, and have four Supply-Wagons per Division .I have simply removed the wagons from any custom OOBs I have going. During long fights I have to re-supply the brigades several times, but they can stay on the battle-line for several hours before running out of ammunition.
Basically, by giving the entire battlefield a defensive bonus, the units will fight longer while sub-staining fewer casualties.
It is a great way of fighting on a part of the field, and having the ability to fallback to a different area before resuming the fighting.
But, my battles usually last roughly twenty-hours of game-time before I get tired of it and start another one.

Re: Supply Wagons
In the KS group we slowed down the rate of small arms fire a good deal. Mostly because we wanted a slower and more historically correct casualty level. We increased the morale penalties so units waver and fall back with fewer losses as well, but one of the side effects of this is that troops rarely run out of ammunition.
There's a scavenging feature that kicks in whenever an infantry unit is at rest - the men pick up ammo from the fallen and wounded. So resting your units helps (it helps in other ways too!)
Generally our group only uses ammo wagons for artillery batteries.
I tend to TC mine and order it to use only roads, but I also tend to bring it up close behind the fighting line where I can see it. I agree though that the number of ammo wagons wandering lost around the battlefields is like the Donner party on speed. NSD should address the AI that drives them or look at them with fresh eyes and decide if they're even needed.

Re: Supply Wagons
100 rounds. Arrrrggghhhh. Carrying forty rounds is tough on the shoulder....I can't imagine what that would do to a poor guy trying to get from A to B.... It would take a toll.... That's a lot of lead to be hauling around..... But I am sure it fixes the supply wagon issue....

Re: Supply Wagons
Each to their own, some prefer gamey, some prefer as close to reality as possible.
For hour long battles with heavy engagements you must resupply or perish. I TC my wagons and place them strategically for resupplying where I think the action will be heaviest, artillery and repeating rifle units get priority.

Re: Supply Wagons
Good point RebBuglar !
I always do the same, tc my ammo wagons, and especially when all of my artillery are concentrated in one area blasting away at the enemy. It is important, so I keep the ammo wagon parked right next to my artillery this way it might only take a minute or two to move my ammo wagon thru the artillery line so they can replenish their ammo, especially their long range ammo .... and never allow the guns to cool off, keep them red hot with fire !
