American Rev. War mod anywhere??

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Hi Crikey

If your interested I have British grenadiers with their mitre hats in the old format. The light infantry are the generic 3d models used in Empire Total War if you are familiar with them. Let me know and I can send them to you if you like. I am going to see if I can repaint the Portugese cavalry as British legion so they can be used as well.

Hi Remus

Thanks but I have the old mitred SYW grenadiers by alessillo. Have them up and running alongside some of the others he made. Talented guy.

Sounds like the total war models are a good source but I'd have no idea how to convert them over to SoW. Nice idea tho.

The dismounted Brit dragoons might work as Light Inf as they have the right headgear but they look a bit odd when marching.

Btw I was looking at your old TCM2 Quebec oob the other day. Might make a nice SR1 project in the future. B)

We're getting pretty close guys :) . I have also been thinking; were just a few sprites away from being able to make a really amazing mod. Some of the keys ones being, well first we need to figure out a proper continental infanty sprite (I haven't yet received the Prussian infantry sprites to see if that's all we're going to need, it might be) but after that we really only need a few more, British Grenadiers; British Light Infantry, American Light Infantry, and maybe some proper green sprites for rangers/dismounted British Dragoons/and hessian Jaegers, but thats about it. Here are some examples of what we need.
British Grenadiers;

British Light Infantry;

The British Light infantry wore many different caps over the course of the war, differing between time periods and regiments, here's a bit of information on that, in image form. My personal favorites for the caps to use would be numbers: 11, or 12 ; or letters: F, or H :lol: ;

American Light Infantry wore much the same thing as their british counter-parts but with blue coats instead of red :P Image
And finally, the Queens Rangers, (which could also work for dismounted British Legion)

p.s. Remus, I also started painting the Portuguese cavalry as british legion aswell, but judging from the speed and quality of your work on those hessian sprites; which i did receive btw, (how did you manage to make those changes and send them to me in like only a couple hours!?! :woohoo: ) You are a lot more talented and a lot quicker than I am, so I will leave that to you.

The hessian sprites are top-notch, very well-done. I am still trying to implement them in-game but as soon as i do, I'll post a screenshot here so we can all admire your amazing work :) .

Hi Crikey and Longstreet

Crikey

Yes I checked out the net and now see Longstreets illustration that the grenadiiers wore leather type helmets and not so much a mitre one.I will look at converting the Austrian grenadiers either from the SYW or
NTW as they have similar helmets and see how they look repainted.

Longstreet
I am recoloring the prussian sprites to more reflect the American continentals and they will be with you shortly. I have recolored the Portuguese cavalry and they are a good substitute but are there any oobs in the rebels and redcoat mod that require them. I can sse what can be done with the light infantry but might take a little longer to come up with anything

All,

Currently working on the Hessian Jager Files. Should have them ready tonight. The folder might be small enough to actually post it here. We'll see.

Thanks Jack and Remus, The British Legion (Green Dragoons) played a large role in the southern campaign and took part in many of the battles of that campaign, a few OOB's that I'm currently working on are the battles of; Camden, Cowpens, and Guillford Courthouse. The use of Light Infantry tactics and Riflemen in the later two also proved decisive. I look forward to receiving those sprites. :)

all,

The Jagers Folder.
The attachment Jagers.rar is no longer available
Open the Graphics Folder and place the graphics files directly into the Existing graphics Folder in the AWI Mod itself.
Open the Logistics Folder and replace the existing .csv files with the new ones included.

Adjust the OOBs and voila! Hessian Jagers. Please let me know if this doesn't work.
