American Rev. War mod anywhere??
Re: American Rev. War mod anywhere??
Hi
As an Englishman this mod is right up my street! Love the images of what you have done and read this thread with real excitement!!!
Is this mod available? and if so could you give me the link to the files.
I'm feeling I need to rewrite this war if the French hadn't got involved the Union Jack might still be flying high over the White House! Lol.

Lash,
As far as I know, Longstreet and Remus have taken the original conversions I did and are running with it. Crikey is in there too. I do not believe at this time it is posted anywhere. If we are really lucky, someone will find a website and do just that. I can send you the original Mad I did if you want. Might take awhile since I'm still trying to figure out why the Jagers, (or any units that want to), don't skirmish. Just one of those weird changes I did that I can't remember.

Hi Jack and Lash and all readers
I haven't done anything on the AWI as Longstreet has not been on the forum of late. There does still swwm to be some interest in the AWI and as I have many of the sprites that will work for AWI I will convert them and update the present one so that it can be played online as well. If anyone would be interested it would help if someone could convert the OObs from the old TC2M game into the SOW format. If you have a special regiment you would like to see in the game post some screenies and I can try to reproduce it as close as possible. All it needs is a little time

R,
The sprites I converted WERE from the old TC2M Mod. I'll take a look and see about the OOBs.

Hi Jack
Sorry didn't mean to mislead you. What I meant by convert was to use SYW war sprites that I have already and convert them into regiments of AWI . I would want to do this for my own use anyway but I think it would benefit the community generally if it meant that the OOBs as they exist at the moment could be expanded with different troop types such as for example the British Legion or light infantry which I have already worked on and are almost ready. This is impossible to do with the older game as there is no other means to do so.
I am not sure if the game in its present format can be played online whereas with what I am working towards will enable multiplayer games to take place. I know the artillery was incomplete and I want to create artillery batteries to look a bit more like its historical counterparts. Once complete and made into an initial mod then the possibilities for development are much wider.

Hi Jack,Remus & everyone I have not mentioned.
It would be fantastic to see all this work converted for scourge of war and turned into a proper mod for everyone! I'm no expert but I know my way around my pc so if I can help I will gladly offer up my services?
This period in my opinion has always needed better coverage in games as it shaped so much of the world, it's politics & countries it also led to the French Revolution.
Whatever you need let me know and I'll see what you can do!!

Hi lashby30
If i can get enough time I would want to have at least one of the TC2M OOBs up and running and ready for MP within about a month. I am hoping to do Brandywine if jJack has already converted it. I would like to have those who are interested to play test it if possible. If it works then the rest of the AWI is our oyster . Perhaps this is something you can do when the time comes. In the meantime I have been researching uniforms of the different artillery used in the Awi and I have some ideas. If you like and have the time I would appreciate any input about this. Mainly the uniforms but also the colour of the guns themselves
Hi Jack
Was wondering if with your conversion you managed to complete the Brandywine OOB. I thought that it would be good to use as a template for the rest of the OOBs and testing purposes and allow me to match up troop types to suit the later OOBs

Re: American Rev. War mod anywhere??
Hi Remus
I have read extensively about the AWI, and in the very early months of the war the colonists scavenged what guns they could from all over the place being primarily a mix of 4,6 & 24 pounders mostly coastal/naval guns, the larger calibre guns being more numerous.
Once however Henry Knox took over the control of the continental armies artillery branch they quickly started producing guns in American foundries which before the war smelted pig & bar iron, they made mostly copies of British artillery pieces which they had access to and French supplied guns also. Almost all of these were exclusively made at the Springfield iron works. I would assume quite safely that almost all guns would have been of a darker iron colour. There are not a lot of paintings to support that though, as I think artist portray the cannons in paintings as brass for effect more than authenticity.
This painting is of an officer of the Rhode Island state artillery train.
The First painting is of the Rhode Island train of artillery men
The third guy on left is in the uniform of Captain John Lambs New York Artillery
This Painting is of the later war standardised revolutionists artillery men's uniform, which is the same across the whole army.

Re: American Rev. War mod anywhere??
John,
This Mod is sort of scattered across at least 3 different people right now. I have the original, converted sprites in a small mod I did primarily for my oldest grandson. It is too big to post here. It contains some basic sprites and an OOB or two to start playing. Longstreet, Remus and, I think Crikey, are, or have done some modifications of it on their own. So, gathering all of it together is kind of problematic. I am willing to send you what I have already done if you want. Shoot me a PM with your address and I can send it to you on a flash-drive. IN THEORY, I'm going to find time to run up a decent, full OOB of Brandywine and will post it here.
