Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
Been watching this one for a while. Made by a Total War modder. Just got greenlit on Steam. Looks like it has potential.

It's the only other ACW tactical battle sim out there that I know of, other than SOWGB. Looks very promising. I'd love to play it on the iPad.

Re: Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
Been helping beta test the game for a little while. I can't say anything specific except that it really does have promise.

Re: Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
I've had a chance to play a few hours of it and made a video on it. It's interesting, reminds me a lot of Sid Meier's Gettysburg in terms of UI, simplicity, approach ability, and scale. I am not a big fan of the brigades being a single unit though, I really wish they were individual units but its still a lot of fun.
Re: Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
Is it released already?

Is in early access

In other words, it's a beta but anyone can buy it and play it.
Re: Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
It's going for €7.99 on STEAM. That is very reasonable!
So many games come out every year costing €60+ but I would never enjoy playing them. If the right game comes along, paying for early access is like placing a bargain-basement bid on a diamond.
Gunpowder or Age of Sail sims can always expect to get my Euros.

Re: Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
Pretty cool concept, definitely the way to go for a tablet sized game.
Actually, it got me thinking on a new mod idea for SOW...BRIGADES.
It would combine regiments and individual guns into brigades and batteries. This would be ideal for those who are overwhelmed by SOW's micromanagement necessities. It WOULD be a lot of work, especially combining the guns, essentially giving the one representative gun an accelerated ROF formula depending on the historical size of the battery, downside here would be different types of guns within each battery could not be represented historically.
If done properly this SOW mod could easily equal and or surpass the Ultimate General game.

Re: Ultimate General: Gettysburg.
How about a SOW mod that would keep individual regiments and guns but the player would be restricted to only give commands at brigade level and above?
I know you can already play this way, but every time I try it I find myself back in micromanaging.
In Kriegsspiel games, we sometimes had the rule that you were only allowed to micromanage units, when you were standing close to them.
