This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.
per your: "...go into the Couriers & Maps/Logistics folder and rename the drills and gui.csv files. Enable both mods and test away, my preliminary testing showed no errors"
rename them to what?
OK, a lesson about mod files...
When you're asked to rename a file, it is the safe alternative to deleting a file, and is really just disabling a file. So, the user has the option of later on re-enabling the file by renaming it back. I suggest adding one letter or number to the beginning of the name, e.g., drills, 0drills.

Bugles & Flags Gettysburg - Toolbar, Flags, Scenarios, and More...
is there a reason I might want to/need to go back later and change them back to their orig names?
so, if I have this right:
- go into my C&M mod folder and rename the drills.csv and gui.csv to something else
- activate C&M mod
- activate the BFMPToolbar mod
- run game using these two together
(does it matter if I also used, for example, TexturedMiniMaps and GCM road fixes also??)

You might want to use the previous files later if this mod does not work out...saves doing a whole new download.
Yes on the procedure you listed...
I'm not familiar with those other mods, but they sound like wholly map mods, which should not conflict.

Apologies for the late reply to these, but we've played a few more 3hr games using the BF-MP toolbar and a couple 2 hr ones... good news - not one single crash. We're really happy with the toolbar and love it. Can you please make sure Norb & co create something similar for Waterloo!
Glad to hear the MP toolbar is working out. If you Win 8 folks want to further test this out, with Flags included, here's an upgraded version. Before, when I first removed flags while testing the MP version, there were still issues. So, chances are the flags were not causing the crash issue. Anyway, you might enjoy the flag version better, so here's that option, if it works...
i'll start using it...we were not having problems with the BFMPToolbar (and I host, and am using Win 8.1)...also, I'd thought the B&F toolbar had the formation avail that placed Art "in front", but we're not seeing that using BFMPToolbar?

Thanks for helping test this out, regarding the artillery question here's the Division level command as seen below. Still, artillery must be assigned to the division, and not as it's own division under an artillery division commander.

Another mod with a gui file could easily cancel it out, maybe that's your issue. Move this B&Flags MP Toolbar to the lowest Priority in Modifications to override most gui conflicts.
