Crimea

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Am really enjoying this outstanding mod. Great work. You know with this French Army built you are well on your way to a Franco-Prussian War mod...

Thank you Los,but I think it was Saddletank who pointed out the problem with the artillery being too advanced,if there's a way round that then I won't rule it out.
I do hope to do an Italian unification mod using the French and Sardinians, but at the moment I'm working on some units for Crikey's Texas Revolution mod, which, with his ok of course,I hope to be able to release early next year.
Here's some Mexicans....

Looks great!
I got turned onto Crimean War history in a skinny little book about it from my high school library. It seemed like they took soooooooo long to take Sebastopol, but well, they kept getting killed by cannon fire from the Malakoff and Redan, so I guess that explains it.

It had translations of funny verses by one of the Tolstoy guys--Leo or Aleksey, I forget which. Stuff like "St. Arnaud got out of sight, and in a manner most polite, came around to our back, came around to our back."

Makes me remember that I kind of love the bomb. I didn't have to go somewhere and personally fight a Great Power.

Looking forward to the Texas Revolution mod, too. That would look great in Big Whiskey and Yellow Bayou, among others.

Thanks ColMcBroom,It was a badly run war on both sides, the allies had a chance to take Sebastopol early on but missed it,and it was Leo who was an artillery officer with the Russians.

The Texas Revolution mod is already out there, done by Crikey, and can be found here..

I'm just adding some new sprites to an already excellent mod.

The British C-in-C Lord Raglan kept referring to the enemy as "the French" ;)

LOL!

Yes, in the English, color version of "The Charge of the Light Brigade," Lord Raglan wakes up from a nap or something, looks out his window and exclaims to an Aide "Egad Man, to arms! the French are in the Courtyard." The Aide smoothly replies "Sir, they're our Allies now." Raglan says "Hmmph", and goes back to sleep. Awesome!
