Modding suggestion-1st Manassas

Post by Joshua l.Chamberlain »

I was wondering if anybody (who can do these things) make a 1st Manassas map and scenarios for the new GB game. The reason why I ask is one I am a terrible modder I just don't have the ability to mod all I can do is imagine. Two I think that this new game could accuratly have the units on the map and stuff. It is only a suggestion though I dout anybody would want to mod this or even consider this sonce these new maps are so detailed.

You might find some people who would be interested in making a Manassas map when the game maps open up. It would be an interesting MP map.

Iirc, map modding will be off limits at first. So no maps any time soon after the release of this game, which is probably quite some time from now.

Once a map SDK is released (or we find our way into them :D) i'll be more than happy to give it a shot.

After playing TC2M, BRTC lost it's luster real quick. A remake of BR sounds like a good project. I'll second your idea.

All I could do in this would be research of course not much of it will be required (since I know alot of the battle by heart) except for a very detailed map of each units position on the hills. It was being atepted on the MMG site by wrangler I think but it seemed to just end or something but thanks anybody who will give this a shot.:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Does anybody know where I can get very detailed maps (regiment emplacements battery emplacments ect.) of the battle from Mathews Hill and Henry House Hill.

IIRC Ed Bearss did a map study of 1BR, there are something like 6 maps in the set and a book that goes with it. Should have all the detail you need.

Make sure you have Evan's counter-attack, Bee's counter-attack, and Heinszleman's attack included as well - BR doesn't do a good job with the entire battle, it focuses more on the larger, not historically accurate engagement rather than the actual battle.

That's one of the resons why I wanted to do a redo in TC2M but I'm terrible at making scenarios or modding in general. I mean I used to never care a bit about the battle of Bull Run I only cared about Gettysburg but I found that Bull Run had more to it than green troops fighting along side a river.

I thought of this idea while reading about the 11th NY Fire zouaves and I had thought when the infantry units are formed up they should have bad ormations since there training wasn't that good.
