Release Party!!
Release Party!!
So I went and stood outside Grand Central Station in NYC for the release party. It's a beautiful day in NY, lots of people out. But surprisingly no one showed up for the party. I guess I forgot to announce it. So I started asking some of the people passing buy about the game. People seemed to run away when I just yelled 'Scourge of War'. So I tried to ask them if they played video games first. Probably thought I was a fundamentalist preacher. But again very surprisingly not one person had heard about the game. I was bummed until I remembered that they had not been home yet. So they'll probably learn about it on the news or something tonight. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow... There's always Bryant Park on the way home. I'm sure some of the folks there must have heard of it, probably find some MP matches next to the chess boards.

Not sure why those New Yorkers haven't heard of it. We in the South Pacific are downloading now!

Hey, Norb and Team, Congratulations on the release of the game.
My Computer has seen the last of it days, so I'll be a few months in the waiting, at least Jim doesn't have to be bothered by me asking for the SDK.
I've been reading the forums off and on all day, and it seems that the game is very solid, so that's good news.
Keep up the excellent work!
Reb - How is everything in the great state of Arkansas - is this a good Engine to convert over to the Civil War ?

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

Re: Release Party!!
Hey D
Sorry to hear about your computer, but a new rig with this new engine will be double the pleasure. Look for a refurbished on Newegg. Win7 is still available on the refurbs, my HP refurb is still going strong after 5 years or so and plays WL fine.
Arkansas is presently hot and muggy, still drying out after months of almost constant rains. This is the first week I can remember without a downpour, but enough of that, hear Tennessee got the same, we just got it first as it spawned from the west.
If you can live without cavalry this engine could suit civil war play. Less melees, far fewer as the AI expands targeting and avoids wheeling into the enemy. Also the AI now has the 'fear of doom', checks are made preventing Davids from charging Goliaths. Of course you can still suicide them with TC or attackmarch.
But let me reiterate, NO Cavalry! Cavalry is awesome at close range, charging 'melee only' infantry killers that can't dismount, just hacking and lancing. It also forces infantry into squares if they have time, and this is just not what the ACW was about.
I'm forgoing the ACW for now and am enjoying this new role for the engine. The nap era is exciting and colorful, ya can't beat the history with unlimited conflicts. Plus there's a whole new GUI system to learn and tinker with...I'm having a ball, and still driving Norb nuts at times.
