Still horrible FPS

Post by Gunfreak »

So finnaly bought it.

But I see nothing of the optimisation talked about, dosn't mater if I play full army or brigade battle in the main campaign, I get 15-24fps in the first brigade size senario on french side, I get a wooping 12-20fps on the army battle.

I get a headache I can live with 25fps, but less then 15 and I get a headache after a few minutes.

Sorry to hear that. For me anything above 10 FPS runs smooth on my older stock HP. I'm kinda the tester for old computers, and being the oldest member on the team it kinda walks hand in hand. :P
From my testing even 7 FPS is acceptable, but performance does get sluggish with occasional bumps and lags. Below 6 FPS it does get unplayable though. The only time I get headaches is when I can't solve something I'm testing and I repeat it over and over again...but that's just a frustration headache I do believe.

I'm not trying to belittle your FPS concerns, it's just that your thread title is rather inflammatory, and does not represent FPS concerns of the majority of our patrons, as a report like this is extremely rare, in fact I don't recall another.

My situation is far more dramatic than Gunfreak.
I get 10 FPS playing "WL01 - The Emperor's Plan" with a rather dated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti.
The GPU overheats a lot after 10 minutes of game. Cannot take the risk now.
Unluckily I couldn't enjoy the game in all its glory yet. :(

And this is where you completely disqualified yourself from being taken seriously in any discussion on the matter.

Easy there Nudz.. We like to keep a friendly forum.

This game has several options to increase performance. And most of the time, if someone has a fast PC and the game is still sluggish, there is another program running (virus scanner, system monitor etc.) that is hogging the resources.

Oops, should of said playable. Acceptable is in the eye of the beholder.

I've run this game extensively on a GTX560 and found the Brigade and Corps scenarios and sandbox quite playable. The former run at about 14fps, the latter, 9-11fps. Full Army is not reliably playable, though I never had any failures due to overheating.

I've also run it on a 8600m. That was unusable at anything beyond two or three brigades per side.

It might have been harsh, but its not nice getting a headache and feeling a migraine coming on from a game.

Redusing view distance to 1200 on all things, gives me atleast fps never lower then 15. Which i can live with. I also remembered i have sli enabled. While i think my bad fps has to do with cpu (and while i might have been to agressive in the title, I still think a game released to day giving less then 30fps on a i7 3770k cpu is not acceptable) i will try to turn off my sli (had no effect on gettysburg) and if it does help I'll retract my statements.

The important thing is i can play it, and so far the game is great no questions or hesitations on that.
