Solved - Runtime errors

Post by boxster »

The last 5 sandbox games I have attempted to play (Brigade v. Brigade or Division v. Division) have all terminated with the following message:
"Runtime Error SOWWL.exe - This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"

The tutorial ran fine as did a couple of the Waterloo battles so I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do. Any ideas?

Have you installed the first patch yet boxster? (see the nuts and bolts section, top-most post)

The first sandbox battle after I applied the beta patch has worked (and what a fine battle it was). Here is hoping the next (and many more) do the same.

So glad to hear this, hope the patch has nipped it in the bud. In defense of NSD and our standards this was a tough one to track down. I reported it a couple of weeks before release as it started happening with me consistently after a build (our term for engine update). All efforts were made to replicate it through our debugging process but it happened with no one else but me. After several days of batting it back and forth and with the final cut off day almost upon us I closed it out and labeled it as unable to replicate. I had come to the conclusion that it was just something on my end and was just wasting time from other folks doing their finalization tasks.

Bottom line, NSD works hard to release stable, bug free games, but sometimes stuff slips through, or, S*** Happens!

Thanks for your patience and understanding,

Randy

There were 4 crashes I think released. 2 had been previously found by the test team, but as Reb says we could not track them down. So we weren't sure if they were our constantly changing environment or something else. But thanks to the players here, we got some great log files and only took a couple of nights to fix. We have every crash fixed that has been reported in the beta patch. If you install the new grog toolbar, you'll have that one fixed too. Hate that we released with crashes, but glad for all the help we got clearing them up.
