Defend, sandbox battle type.. Quick question..

Post by Anderson »

Hi,

How long does it normally take before an enemy shows up? Even a distant sign thereof..

I find I loos my nerve and think something has gone wrong.. and abort the game. So play Line of Site. But Defend is potentially better.

All the best,
Kip.

There's not a fixed time, it depends from the distance where the enemy spawn. How much do you wait in term of game time?

Mitra76, hi,

Thanks for the quick response..

Will go back and fast forward the game by a couple strikes and see if I can get an idea...

All the best,
Kip.

I don't know what actually triggers the AI (opponent) to move, I guessing troop movement within a certain distance. I do know that the AI uses roads to advance in most cases, therefore the AI will reach you much quicker. I've seen exceptions too... I have also played sandbox where only about half the opponent advances. So I send out my horse soldiers and then all hell breaks loose.....

In a 'hunt them down' sandbox game on a 5 mile map it can be 30 minutes or more before opponents locate each other. Generally towards the map centre is where you should head, unless god terrain is elsewhere, or an objective is. Sandbox 'hunt them down' with 1 objective planted randomly will always make the battle gravitate there.

Also because the bigger formations obviously cover more ground, it can be longer for a brigade vs brigade game to find the enemy than when using bigger formations.
HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.
