Baldrick would have made an excellent "sweepings from the streets" British soldier.
I imagine a Napoleonic Blackadder as a staff officer always skulking in the rear, doing everythin to avoid danger and getting cushy assignments.
Captain Flasheart of course would be a dashing hussar with very tight breeches and an enormous well-polished sabre.
