Join the KS group. We're not newbies but we just don't use that term anyway. Using HITS and couriers is a great leveller and we play using correct tactics when we can rather than exploits the software gives you. We're also completely non-competitive and enjoy a laugh on our TS server.
We do play some PvP games (we have a Peninsular campaign running at present) but we also play a lot of co-op vs the AI, especially while we are testing and building the KS mod because many of the changes in that mod are only relevant to AI behaviour.
Plenty of newcomers join us and just take a brigade to begin with. All are welcome. Link is in my sig.

HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.

I dont really like the idea of playing HITS to me that isnt fun i feel like i miss out on all the eye candy and has a major hit on my tactical awarenessJoin the KS group. Re: Any newbie groups?
I agree that increased fog of war is one of the factors with HITS, its also another reason why it levels the playing field among different levels of player skill. The KS group is about realism - or as much of it as we can get into the game without it ceasing to be a blast as well.
You could try us for one game and see what you think.
We are pretty much the only WL online gaming community at present and we have a long-term Peninsular campaign running which almost every player agrees is a great way to play MP games because your actions are linked to a wider context strategic setting.

Re: Any newbie groups?
I was a bit hesitant on HITS as well. But after playing I thought that it is great and I play once per week in this manner. It is just another optional way to play.
Outside of the HITS group I would like to see more multiplayer groups created. I know a lot of people do not but games until a full patch has been produced and I believe that they are going to produce a SDK as well.
I have seen a group trying to form on Steam, but I have not participated in any games.
Perhaps a lot of players consider themselves to be newbies, but I encourage all to play. With the HITS group I was a newbie to the HITS system and I took a brigade and had a great experience! So, be it HITS or GOD mode, I encourage everybody to try multiplayer it is really a lot of fun!

Hi Lordhedgwich
Not sure of your location but we are an online group at AusSOW.freeforums.org. We are small at present but have games on a regular basis. One of our players is new to the game but he is encouraged in learning how to play. We expect learning curves to be normal and the few of us who have been playing a little bit longer are still learning. We play with modified OOBs so that it is possible to play with a Division or Corps commander depending on your experience. You can check our website at the above address. No hassles no pressure just good fun.
