Community Mods not showing in game

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Community Mods not showing in game

Post by garyknowz »

None of the community mods are showing up in the game for some reason. I reinstalled the game and expansion packs after a recent crash. However, after downloading the maps, OOBs, and tools mods, and dropping the folders into the "Mods" folder in main game file---as I had done in the past---they don't appear in the Modification selection page off the main page. Likewise, the ones with an installation process such as Praise Grove, Olustee, Secessionville, etc. don't appear either. Even Bugles and Flags mod isn't there. The only mods present are the ones that seem to come stock with the expansions (e.g., Chancellorsville Extras, etc.)

The game does feel a little different from the one I installed several years ago. like the initial "MatrixGames.com Choose Your Strategy" and such. Have the procedures for installing mods changed from how it used to be done? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!
Gary K.

Sounds like you have two copies installed. You could be putting the mods in a duplicate mods folder but then running a different exe. Best solution is check reg edit for the duplicates and delete, uninstall the non-Matrix copy.

It's a new hard drive though. I did install the demo thinking it may have an update-to-full-version option, but didn't see one. However, I checked reg edit without finding any duplicates.

But one strange anomaly occurred: when I installed the mods with a self-extracting installation files (like Praise Grove, Olustee, and Secessionville) they installed into a completely separate folder (NorbDevSoft folder) instead of the existing "Matrix Games" folder where the game exists. I didn't have that problem before. The other mods were dropped into the ---> Matrix Games > Scourge of War - Gettysburg > Mods folder.

Any thoughts on what the issue could be?

Should I uninstall everything and try again?

This is the issue, we don't use the "NorbDevSoft" (edit - NorbSoftDev, NSD) folder anymore. All I know is find those installs and copy those mods into the Matrix version. Prairie Grove is available as a straight mod download through it's update. Copy all other mods into the Matrix version and you should be good to go. Delete any NSD folders from your PC that were created by old Installs to avoid future conflicts.
