Re:"Unit builder"
I think so to but I was thinking only add it to multiplayer under a different category or you could when you play multiplayer you could choose your regiment then check marc whose division(if you want to work independant or you cpud add them to a brigade then choose that brigade. I also suggest if you do the create a regiment that you make a choice of creating uniforms now I'm not saying anything complicated. Let me explain how I think it should go you first choose wich side your going to be on then you choose a state then it goes to a basic infantry unit and on the side of it you can choose from a variaty of all the uniforms on top you have the categories hat, coat, and pants. You could come up with some crazy comboes like a iron brigade hat sharp shooters coat zouaves pants. Then you Name your regiment and save it then when you fight you get points wich you add to your expience points. You can also change your weapon uniform but it would cost you points. So what do think do you think thats a good idea I mean it's probebly to much but it would be cool. Of course the whole concept that there is gping to be multilayer is cool.

Good thoughts, but everyone that I have explained the design to, has loved it. It's been in my head for years and some day I'll actually get to do it. That's the tough part of being the Producer. I have to decide on the major features and put down my own ideas because other's ideas make more sense for this title. Personally I only had a few requirements for this game, MP, better maps, better AI. I got my absolute minimums in the game. Jim had his list too, I'm sure we all did. But adding the rpg elements has been my dream since day 1. It's already in there, been in there for years, I just need to hook it all up. You'll like it, but I will have to make sure that if you don't like it, that it won't interfere with your enjoyment of the game.

Not a bad idea this of the RPG...it usually begins with the unknown lieutenant who then becomes aide de camp of Lee.
The unit builder idea is also good, but you know...first things first.
It is true that Gettysburg will profit of the huge achievements of TC2M but it is also true that the MP component in the game is something brand new.
If this was a fps game, 90% of the time would be devoted to the SP campaign...after that, it's all about building maps for the MP. Unfortunately, this is much more than a "simple" FPS and so, other things are required first and foremost.
I believe the MP will be the main aspect and ultimately we've got the modding.
I'd say let's wait and see what happens.

Norb if you are not sure about the rpg make it but put it as download expansion for the people who want it so there is no hasel or complaints. And you did understand my idea about the uniforms right?

We really can't do fancy uniform stuff until we switch to full 3D. But it is also on the list for consideration in the near term.

Norb, have you taken a look at Hay's "Campaign Carryover Tool"? It does something of what this thread is about, in that the player inputs a Master OOB at the start of a camapign,m then selects units (of both sides) from the OOB to make up scenarios or battles, fights the battles in MP or SP then using the end of battle game data dump facility the casualties are input back into the calculator, along with the info about whether they won/lost were routed. captured, etc and a bit of calculation goes on to give ne unit strengths that are updated into the Master OOB.
The calculator can also add replacements/new recruits to units and update morale on the basis of a calculation taking into account casualties suffered vs inflicted.
I wouldn't say there's any RPG elements in there beyond what you already have via the unit stats but its a very cool bit of software and we are using it right now in the Peninsular Campaign I'm umpiring using Gunship's Nap Mod.
P.S. - Oh, Chamberlain, your sig pic is a little big. Any chance you could make it smaller? Thanks!
