Error starting game

Post by pancerni »

I tried to start the game for the first time since the update and I new get the following error message "unable to start the program missing d3dx9_43.dll. Reinstall program"

Anyone else have this issue... have not tried to reinstall yet.

I find the file in
C:\windows\system32
and
C:\windows\syswow64
with a timestamp from 2010.
Can it be from Directx? Re-install Directx from Microsoft might help ...

Edit: googled the filename it is indeed from DirectX. So re-install DirectX,
but NEVER simply download the file directly from Internet!

No this is the temporary directory where unpack the files of installation, select a temp directory and after execute the dxsetup.exe you find inside

Ok after rereading the link to the other discussion I need to load the Direct X files into a temp file and then extract the one I need...there are two d3dx9_43.dll files, one is 43x86 and one 43x64...which one?

No, you need to execute the exe you downloaded, it will ask you a directory where extract the files; gives the c:\temp directory, after the extraction go inside c:\temp, find the dxsetup.exe and execute it; gives ok to the install process. After the end of this, the game should work
