Hey, I'm thinking about buying the newer game to convert to the Civil War, I'm not into the Napoleon battles.
How does the AI rate compared to the previous game?
Does the AI attack or defend better or worst than the previous game?
Has anyone had any four or five mile battle-fronts?
Thanks,
davinci

Re: AI Open play Question:
You don't have to be "into the Napoleon battles" to enjoy Napoleonic style warfare.
The AI is the same you're accustomed to with the ACW releases, however the cavalry and infantry units do react differently to each other - infantry battalions form squares when threatened by cavalry, cavalry being much stronger now, charging and destroying battalions when they fail to form a square in time. Cavalry are all lancers and sabers now, no dismounting and firing.
Larger units are now possible allowing 200 sprites rather than 125 per battalion or squadron. For additional appeal units can now be split allowing for separate recon or skirmish actions. The AI automatically releases split skirmish units. Also there are now forts on most maps which add to the European environment and history of fortress warfare, they can be occupied and defended by the player or the AI.
And yes about battle fronts, the full army Waterloo scenarios begin with 4 mile battle fronts on both sides.

Re: AI Open play Question:
Hi DaVinci. In addition there is an AI.dll file in the game. This means, with a small amount of coding knowledge, that the game is much more moddable and you can do things with the AI that were never possible with Gettysburg.
HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.

Well, I disagree with you on this one, it is sort of hard to Mod a game that doesn't appeal to you. I'll stick with the Civil War.You don't have to be "into the Napoleon battles" to enjoy Napoleonic style warfare.
The larger units sounds good, but did the game expand the number of uniforms per regiment? The AI is the same you're accustomed to with the ACW releases,

Thanks, Saddletank the addition of Modding the AI is a very good step farther , its a shame that I don't know how to program.Hi DaVinci. In addition there is an AI.dll file in the game.

I think that there are only six people that post here that has any programming knowledge that I'm aware of. It's still a good upgrade.
Thanks for the input!

Clearly getting Waterloo and making an ACW mod for it is what you should be doing! I imagine that will help NSD sales a good bit!
