Still problems with the Take Command feature
Still problems with the Take Command feature
Regarding the take command function: If I click to take command of a div or brigade leader, then have his unit do something, like change formation and move forward, only the leader will do it. Then when I take the T C off, they will move around. For example, order string goes like this: " General Graham, 1) take command on. 2) form your unit into a column by div (inf). 3) move your unit to this point on the map" " .. then only General Graham will go to this map point. And it does not really matter what the order sequence is. However when I take the TC off, they all respond to the orders. This is an outrage!
Re: Still problems with the Take Command feature
Outrage is overstating things a bit but I noticed the same thing last night playing Chancellorsville. I am more accustomed to Waterloo & assumed I was doing something wrong.

Re: Still problems with the Take Command feature
The command TC is solid, and dependable, once you learn how to use it. If you haven't, read this TC explanation thread. Even if you don't use the Grog toolbar it should prove helpful.

Although this is a Waterloo thread, all the TC characteristics still apply.
If this thread is about courier commands, then the first example leaves out 'forming a formation', turning "outrage" to oversight. Regardless, TC works flawlessly with the courier process, just gotta follow the steps correctly, or so I've been led to believe from many positive reports.

Thanks Red!
That link helped a great deal. I am still very new to SoW but enjoying it greatly.

Re: Still problems with the Take Command feature
So should I be able to move a whole division around from one place to another w the TC on? not sure what "Atcommon" means? I see the thread indicates the entire unit and subordinates will be on TC, but I cannot get all units to move when they are all under TC. Only the leader moves. Why would only a leader move and all the subordinates stay put, but when I take off TC they all move as ordered? thanks!

To move a division when the enemy is in sight TC the division CO, click destination, adjust direction, then formation. Quickly select tcofficers. Once the brigades start to engage is when I generally TC off the officers individually, or all at once with Atcommoff.

Atcommoff turns TC off for the respective officer and his subordinates.

Re: Still problems with the Take Command feature
Thanks but I cannot find the Atcomm/off order anywhere. Aren't there any simple English language instructions to show how to move an entire brigade in TC mode? As stated only the leader moves. Cannot play scenario #7 bc I cannot get all my troops around left side of objective to flank They all move to the front to fight the enemy. ONly way I could do it is by ordering each regiment and that is not "practicable."
Just looking for simple English language instructions on how to move an entire brigade or division in TC mode to an objective across the map.
Thank you!
