Here you can talk about whatever floats your boat. Your favorite movie, sports team, etc. If it's a little racey, I suggest you post in R&R, otherwise we'll move it for you.

Confession: I pay to have people beat me up!

Post by MadMan »

My youngest daughter has been taking karate for over 2 years now. She's a natural athlete, a tallent for which I am this morning sorely lacking.
Last June her karate instructor came over to the bench where all us dads & moms were sitting watching our kids and announced it's June. Our response: Yeah, well d'uh.
Him: Father's Day's in June.
Once again: D'uh!
Him: Dads jump in free for June. Go to the Pro Shop, grab a free gi and get on the floor. (There was an adult class running at the same time)

4 of us were dumb enough to take him up on his offer. 2 of us survived June and decided to join-up permanently. Fast forward to Feb. the guy who owns the school I attended, owns 3 others. For economic reasons he closed the school I was attending. We were given the choice to quit or attend one of the other schools. I opted for one of the other schools.

Last night was a sparring night. Classes are divided by belt rank. (beginner/intermediate) (advanced/Black Belt)
I am the lowest level intermediate belt. We usually spar with our own ranks.
Last night the 3 green belts (me)were invited to spar with the black belt class. These guys have 3 to 20 years more experience than me. It showed. I hurt. While I don't think it's broken, I don't think my nose could hurt more even if it was.

Hi, my name is MadMan. I'm 48, slow, weak & blind, and I pay people to beat me up.

MadMan, have to give you credit for trying! If I tried some of those kicks, I'd end up with a lifetime groin injury.

Good on you Madman - I'm 43 , slow, weak and blind and I started playing rugby again last year after having 8 years away from the game! Battered and bruised every Sunday but its worth it.

I was waiting to hear that your daughter was beating you up

My only physical activity is walking up three flights of stairs to go to work. You may be getting your butt kicked, but at least you're getting some exercise.

My son-in-law is heavy into marshal arts but usually he is on the giving end of the beating. He's also an ex semi-pro football player, although he is currently going to nursing school.

Personally, I've been married for 40 years so I've been taking a mental beating for probably longer than most of you have been alive.

I've only had to endure 7 years of that.

But you have to factor in the mental beating unleashed by the wife during the pregnant months (which I am currently enduring), so it's more like double that.

This is something I have been meaning to do for some time now. I studied Traditional Tae Kwon Do from 10 to 15.:)
By traditional I mean there were no belts; only levels. I did however achieve the level of "2nd Degree" Blackbelt before I finished my studies.

Now at 41, I think it's time to get back into the "kick of things".
I really need to lose some of this "spare tire" that I've gained over the last 4 years and get healthy once more.

From 'The Mad One' to the MadMan, hang in there my friend.......maybe it won't hurt a much in another year!;)

My leg has been keeping me from being athletic for nearly 10 years and tommarow I am going to hike again. The last time I hiked is when I ruined my leg.

Hey MadMan,

I'm a physical therapist so people pay me to beat them up. So you are in good company. Though I tend to leave their noses alone.
